Playing in Tampa in a month or so. We will play Streamsong for 2 rounds. What else do you recommend? Thinking possibly TPC Tampa, Lake Jovita. Where else?

World woods is probably not on the ticket for this trip.

Copperhead where they play the PGA stop is pretty highly regarded I think. World Woods would have been my other suggestion.

We played Pasadena Yacht and CC when I was there about a month ago. Pretty nice. Older club. Think its private though

I am not a golfer so my response is more of a question to those golfers living in the Tampa area.

Is the course at Saddlebrook all that? I know many pro athletes live in there.

Is the drive to Champion's Gate worth playing that course? I know they do a few PGA or LPGA events there?

It is 58 miles up I-4 though.

Pick two courses at Innisbrook. Spend the day there. I suggest Copperhead and Island. Copperhead gets all the accolades because the pros have a stop there, but the Island course is a really good track, especially from the back tees.

TPC TAMPA...great track..need a lot of game... copperhead also difficult but over rated IMO...island course also nice...fox hollow best value...(Monday qualifier course for Valspar and $50 green fee..)followed by Dunedin Country Club (Donald Ross with great history ($45 green fee)more open with less degree of difficulty. I play these courses fairly regular and they are in great shape..
Isla del Sol in st Pete also worth the play...
fwiw...if you have never played copperhead, play there..it is pretty cool to watch the pros play it when you know the holes and have that on course perspective..
edit...you probably thought of this but a lot of courses aerate in August (ex. lake jovita north 8-17,south 8-4/ other courses mentioned TBD..

Thanks for the recs. A couple of guys are balking at the $200 price tag for Copperhead. How would you rank Jovita vs TPC?

TPC all day..better condition in general and jovita aerating both courses in august...TPC greens will be perfect..aerated June 28th...4 of us played copperhead in April on vendors dime...$349 each...way too much..
Play early...heat is brutal here now...if you looking to play 36, Cheval is right next door to TPC and is worth a round..

Thanks for the advice. Do you know much about the world woods courses? I spoke with someone that played it in May, and they left unimpressed. Said it was slightly run down. Didn't know if they have begun to decline some, or if this was an anomaly.

He said he's already playing Streamsong, hoss

I don't have any Tampa recs...Streamsong is awesome though. Both are great tracks and it's cool to see the different styles between Coore/Crenshaw and Doak when they were given basically the same blank canvas. Have fun

I have heard the same about both courses at world woods recently.. it's a little over an hour drive for me and I got 11 courses within 30 minutes that are "sure things" so I don't "travel" much...

I've played Copperhead before. It's a really, really good track.

Yeah. I am in the north florida area and have Sawgrass, World Golf, and a lot of other quality courses within a 30 minute drive. I appreciate all the advice from all.

One final question. Is TPC Tampa like some other TPC courses in that it has great upkeep, but not amazing layout, of is it a nice layout as well?

Best conditioned for sure..no elevation changes would be the only deduct for me but layout is pretty subjective - I like it...you hit every club in your bag tho..
If you driving from North Florida, Ocala National good track..Rees Jones redesign..lots of elevation change and no parallel fairways...my home cc in the 80's...only question would be course conditions right now...
