a few light in Broussard, 2 or 3 between Patterson and Berwick then it's smooth sailing until you get to Paridis/Boutte.

Only problem with 90 is from I-10 until you get out of Lafayette. Lot's of stop lights and traffic at certain times. Once you get out of that, it's definitely faster than taking I-10 through BR. Got into this discussion with my wife and friends who though it was stupid to take 90 from NOLA on the way to a concert in Lafayette.....they ended up missing the first half of the concert due to sitting 4 hours in traffic.

I've been making the Friday afternoon drive from Lafayette to NOLA on a weekly basis for years. On I-10, this drive usually takes somewhere between 2 1/2 and 5 hours. Everything depends what's happening on the Basin Bridge and the I-10 Mississippi River Bridge in BR. If there is a wreck or stalled vehicle on either one of those, be prepared to sit for a long time.
The Highway 90 drive takes about 20-30 minutes longer than I-10, but the drive never seems to take more than 3 hours. I still alternate between the two routes, but never seem to regret taking Highway 90.

FWIW, traffic is at a standstill from Grosse Tete thru BR right now.

Stop at Wal Mart on College Dr. in Baton Rouge. Promise you it may be more entertaining than NOLA.

Friday traffic in BR is the lightest of all days. Should be no prob at all.
