Oh I always say a quick prayer before a difficult stick. Makes it even more stressful when the parents tell you "you better get it on one try!" and stare you down the entire time.

Used to donate plasma in school for some extra scratch--kinda helped me get over my phobia of needles.

Nurse, I do hate it when I get a new nurse that stabs and then starts fishing for the vein. That crap hurts. And yes, 99% of the time they blow out that vein.

Do they use the painease spray on you?
That stuff is awesome....they should have that in every setting where you have to draw blood/start ivs.

I have very difficult veins. I always tell them that I am not trying to tell them how to do their job, but I tell them which arm (and which veins) are best, and suggest a butterfly.

I am not scared of needles but I hate the pain inflicted on my veins by nurses who can't draw blood in one stick.
