I forget...is shorthand for the Bohr models you use a noble gas as your nucleus and first couple of suborbitals and then throw in the next shell?

Like potassium (19K) would be argon and a proton? (+1Ar)?

A couple of things. The orbital model is not the Bohr model which considers electrons in "orbits" around the nucleus like a solar system. The Bohr model is out of date. Electrons do not circle the nucleus like planets do a sun.

Also, I would write the electron configuration for potassium as [Ar] 4s^1. [Ar] = Core electron configuration. 4 = valence shell. s = subshell. 1 = equal the number of electrons in said subshell.

With all this said, your electron configuration for potassium is not wrong. Meaning I see what you are saying. In fact there are many ways to write an electron configurations. So, you may have come up with the Pectus way. Good job.

Mouser the nobles have complete outer shells. Pectus is an ion though, I'm positive.

ETA: just spitballing here

Morning Folks. About the only chemistry I playing with this morning are the right amounts of sugar and cream in my coffee.

you were telling the truth yesterday...i know you can drop a good deal of cash down at the lil village on steak & lobster, but their spaghetti sauce is the best in BR IMO. Spaghetti & meatballs with a couple of glasses of vino and maybe some of their overly pungent bread would be a terrific and not too expensive meal.
