Then they are idiots. The player is emotionally invested and will almost always want to keep playing. It's the same reasoning behind surgeons not being allowed to operate on family members. Too emotionally invested and it clouds rational thought.

Exactly. You hear these former players say they wouldn't change a thing all of the time even when they know they may be fricked up in the long term. The nfl needs some sort of protocol to save these dudes from themselves.

Ummmm...these former players turn around and sue the NFL for billions of dollars after they piss away the millions they made when they played. Come on...they need protection for the lawyers maybe.
