"It's getting better all the time". Song from some Beatles album. Can't remember which one. This song sticks in my head when I read this. I just think there is more publicity with the internet and information like this might not have even gotten out much 25-30 years ago. I think society is probably as peaceful now as ever but you don't ever hear the good stories. Just my two cents.

I think it's heinous and evil. My point is that this stuff isn't getting worse than it was 25 years ago when violent crime was at an all time high. It is just exposed to the public more via the internet and instant media.

It's sick and horrible but every time I'm tempted to think it's worse than ever I recall the story from Genesis (just bear with me if you don't happen to believe scripture) where there were a mere 4 people on the earth and one brother killed the other. Now that's an astronomical crime rate right there. It's always been bad.
