Every truck should have one of these bumper stickers --

Same.
Still...no way the gf just found out about the family plans. She could have asked him earlier in the week.

You either need to nut up or find a good excuse (or a new GF)

Moving someone is one of the most back-breaking bullsh!t jobs around.
NO ONE should ever volunteer ANYONE ELSE to move a friend or family member.
Let her parents pay for movers if they don't want to do the job themselves.

And if they do and you don't want to, you can say no. No means no, right?

They can ASK. Volunteering you without your permission beforehand is RUDE and THOUGHTLESS.
Maybe I'm a little sensitive because I've had several people "volunteer" my moving services. I've been 6'2" about 210 lbs. since college, so it seems people just assume that I would love nothing better than to spend my off days moving their crap.
I remember going to my college girlfriend's uncle's house once for a BBQ. Some woman I had never met, but who was friend's with my girlfriend's mother, had a daughter that was moving the next day. She was moving in with her fiancee. I was just casually paying attention to the conversation, when I heard her say something about the girl's fiancee not being able to help with moving because him and his buddies had scheduled a fishing trip on that weekend months in advance. Apparently, they had no guys "to move the big stuff." I guess she thought that I would want to impress my girlfriend's mother, so upon being introduced to this woman, she comes out with, "Oh wow, you're a pretty big guy. I need you to help my daughter move tomorrow. She lives at 32....."
I literally just walked away laughing.
In the past, I helped people move when we were getting out of college and a few years after. Since my mid-30's, whenever anyone has broached the subject, I either tell them that you should only ask your BEST friends (or parents/siblings) to help you move, or that once you turn 30, you should hire movers.

It is. And that is why you either tell them NO...or say okay, I'll do it as a favor to you.
