Mix up a tablespoon of borax and 2 tablespoons of baking soda with 2 pints of vinegar and 1 pint of rubbing alcohol.

Put the mixture in a spray bottle and lightly mist it. All sides and the inside as well if you can. Dry it by placing it in the path of a desk fan set on high.

they stink so bad, you cannot take them out of the plastic bags they are in.

Maybe someone left them stored in a room where rats took dumps. Surprise bugs haven't eaten them up. Nice find.

Put them in a sealed plastic bag with an open box of baking soda for a few days. IDK if that would work but what do you have to lose?

They have now been in a sealed box with an open box of baking soda in with them. I did a quick little shot of Febreeze in there as well, but made sure I didn't spray the papers.

I will open the box in a couple days

I'd imagine you could expose them to strong sunlight for a week or two with no risk of degrading the quality.

Do not do this.

Do the baking soda recommendation and be patient. Even change the soda over time. I once bought a vintage guitar amplifier that was solid as a rock but had been gigged 40 years and smelled like stale beer and cigarette smoke (not in a cool way). I kept putting those baking soda boxes for refrigerators inside the cabinet with the soft cover on and in a few months the smell was gone.

They stink because they are Chinese forgeries.
