Diamonds are a scam. Debeer's has the marked cornered and has and incredible hoard in storage. Thus artificially inflating the price.
Dirty secret of the diamond trade is that there is very poor resale value for diamonds. Don't believe me? Go to a Jewler and try to resale a diamond.

No doubt.

Insure the ring. When the divorce comes lose the ring and cash in on the insurance. Give her the ring and when she sells it turn her in for insurance fraud.

Unfit mother, liar, jailtime...win for the father.

I originally thought the OP was in his early twenties with this idea. But, since he mentioned the fact that he's 31 & she's 32. I guess it's the right time

Besides the last sentence about involvint kids, yes. I would list names if I didn't like the guy.

He actually rolled over the ring to frick it up then threw it across the table to her at the settlement hearing/preceding.

Ok. You've been around long enough to know better than to post this on the ot.

In any case, to answer your question, a modestly sized high quality diamond on a simple band will do. Seriously, don't get a 1 carat piece of shite over a 1/2 carat good one.

I brought mine in and asked her which one. Then waited a year or so.
