It's always good to wait until the day the storm hits to look for generators.

That said, your best bet may be Costco, but I wouldn't count on it. Good luck.

Are you fricking serious?

If you lose power for three days, you won't need a generator.

Hell, during Gustav I didn't have power for 13 days.

I worked. Went home. I drank wine, read books by candle and flashlights, took a cold shower, and passed out.

The cold shower allowed me to fall asleep in the heat.

Man you must be poor. Anyone can survive and deal with the elements if needed to but why when you can afford $1K for a portable generator to run a few things? Enjoy the July heat for a few days if you choose.

So why do you have power in the first place? Its obviously not that important to you...

Or are you just tying to be edgy and cool?

But explain why three days without power is an ordeal.

Because it gets fcking hot in a hurry. Your stuff in your freezer and fridge goes bad.

What's the big problem with having a little generator to run a few things that has you so upset.

Nothing.

But it's not a necessity like y'all act like it is.

Not a necessity to a single man in his early 20’s who can go to work and then come home and get drunk and pass out. But for anybody with a family and kids, you are way off. Especially in Louisiana in July.

So serious question: how did people manage to raise kids before AC? I have a 9 month old as well and I tend think they are sturdier than we give them credit for. Put them in shade, breathable clothes, keep them hydrated and Find a way to put a breeze on them.
