That's annoying as shite, but we wouldn't have to do this if everyone was honest about their insurance coverage and didn't try to avoid paying bills.

when I am an 8:00 appt and we see the doc get out of his car at 8:20, then see us at 8:50 and not apologize. Yes!! I know one doc who rolls in for his 8 am appt at about 8:30, routinely, and then plays on his phone.

So are you going to see this doctor every day? You stalk this man to see his comings and goings to his office. You do realize that some doctors round on their patients in the hospital in the am before they go to their clinics and see patients? How do you know he didn't just come from the hospital and something held him up at the hospital? And how do you know he's playing on his phone? You looking over his shoulder? How do you know he isn't texting or emailing something about a patient. Or consulting a medical reference on his phone?

This doesn't happen.

Sounds like you are in the industry and therefore dont have the "normal" patient experience. You know my address and my wife's name/number. You aren't "required" to get that shite every visit. You want it in case my address has changed so you will know where to send the bill.

quote:

Stop making me wait in the lobby reading some old arse sports illustrated well past my appointment time because you are finishing your early morning round of the front nine at the local golf course.

quote:

Neither does this.

Yes it does, schedule an early morning appointment on a nice late spring Friday. Yeah, you were rounding alright. Rounding the 6th hole on your way to the 7th.

quote:

How about you stop charging $200 for a sling, splint or boot that I can get at Walgreens for $20.00.

quote:

Neither does this. But even if it did, if you paid 10x more for an identical product, whose fault is that?

I was anesthetized. 3 days later, I replaced the shitty $200 sling with the plastic buckles that broke with a $20 with from Walgreens with stainless steel buckles.

quote:

Stop pushing me out the door when I'm trying to discuss my overall health with you.

quote:

So, it's OK for other people to have to sit in the waiting room reading the old arse sports illustrated well past their appointment time, just not you?

How about you schedule enough time with each patient to adequately provide them with health care instead of scheduling them on top of each other. My health should be your number one concern, not your retirement portfolio.

quote:

Stop making me pay for an office visit so you can renew my annual prescription for allergy medicine.
quote:

This is the only legitimate point you made. Although there are real reasons for you to have to see a physician to renew seemingly harmless meds.

I understand that you are responsible for any prescriptions that you wright. I'm assuming the insurance companies are getting tired of paying for it and will lobby the FDA to mak e it over the counter soon whether its safe is not likely their concern. Point taken.

Their are plenty of other intelligent people in other career fields.

Of course there are, but they can't do my job just like I can't do theirs.

Agreed, though some of them have the capacity, they just chose a different path.

As a drug rep, let me just say to this happy horseshite.

I can't give a motherfricker an ink pen much less a ski trip.

And if I spend $3.00 on a coffee from Starbucks for a doc or nurse, I have to document it out the arse.

Some of your complaints are legit but this idea some of y'all have about the relationship between docs and drug companies is about 30 years out of date.

He doesn't. He isn't. I know because I work with him One day a week and the day is usually different from week to week. He does not do rounds. He's A physician who specializes in addictions. I know he's not the norm. But let's not pretend doctors never run late because of their own shortcomings

What paperwork are you filling out every time you go to the doctor? I sign my name and hand over my insurance card. My patients do the same in my office.

Avoid all of those problems and just don't go to the doctor until you are near death. I don't go and neither did my mom. She died at age 94, on no medications.

No. Deleted it. We get free paper from Big Paper and we have to use it. How else would Scruffy get his free trip to Europe?

We paid a lot to specifically get old magazines. Be thankful we gave you anything to read.

Scruffy would respond to you about that but he is currently enjoying his free cabin in Colorado and he doesn't have the time.

You don't know how insurance works do you?

Stop pushing me out the door when I'm trying to discuss my overall health with you. If I have multiple concerns that shouldn't require multiple appointments. My "chief" complaint is that you aren't concerned about my health and well being, you are more concerned about how many patients you can bill in a day.
How about you give all of those as a chief complaint rather than springing them on us when we thought your appt was for hemorrhoids. That way we know AHEAD OF TIME and we can schedule a longer appt.
quote:

Stop making me pay for an office visit so you can renew my annual prescription for allergy medicine. I've been taking it daily for five years now. So in your professional opinion is safe for me to continue taking it? We'll no shite.
A combo of liability and your doctor actually caring about your health.

You sound like the kind of person who would sue if you got sick.

As long as you don't complain if your plumber shows up one or more hours late.

This is really a terrible analogy for several reasons. If one plumber gets held up on a job they just send a different plumber. If your doctor gets held up because a patient has an emergency, you still want to see your same doctor. Also you wouldn't be bitching if it was your mom or dad who the doctor spent extra time with because it was urgent. No one likes having to wait extra time, but acting as if plumbers and doctors have similar reasons for making people wait is incredibly asinine.

That's odd. Because a drug rep that visits one of the offices where I work from time to time brings in free lunch for the entire staff and physicians while talking about a drug. And the only documentation is that the physician and others sign her sheet

That is Scruffy's favorite myth about the drug rep/doctor relationship.

They can give a lunch with the requirement that it is an actual presentation/lecture.

All heavily documented.

You are not an official Pediatrician's office if there is no Highlights magazine in the lobby.
