Going to gatlinburg Monday of next week till Friday. Haven't been in about 10 years. Will be there during Christmas...looking for some good ideas and things to do around this time of year over there...

If it's not to cold, smokey mountain alpine coaster in Pigeon Forge. Log cabin pancake house off of the the main strip in Gatlinburg, best breakfast in town.

My family enjoyed Terry Evanswood Magic show at the Uspide Down House.

Best meal we had was at the Old Mill Cafe.

That sounds like a line from Hee Haw.

That thing is awesome.

You can go skiing at Ober Gatlinburg this time of year.

I go to the Brewery, eat wings, and drink beer. Do some hiking during the day. I really enjoy the place, but I never do the tourist stuff. So much natural beauty if you are into that stuff. There is also some dive looking bars off of the main drag that I never have been to, but always say I will.

Your best bet is to not go. Gatlinburg is trashy.

It's going to be a mess the week of Christmas, the town isn't built with roads to handle the masses of people that will be there, so good luck. The aquarium is surprisingly nice. I don't like Ober Gatlinburg but it is *something* to do if desperate. I recommend the restaurant at the buckberry creek lodge if looking for a nicer dinner away from the family places. Asheville is short drive away if you have any interest in the Biltmore House.

All the touristy stuff will be packed.

If it was me, I would hangout in the mountains. Enjoy the scenery. Cook up some good food, drink good drinks.. Maybe go into town once or twice. Go hiking.

If you need more entertainment, the other suggestions in the thread are good.

Log Cabin Pancake House, delicious breakfast. It has been a long time since I've been to Gatlinburg but they used to have up a lot of collegiate flags which was cool. We went for about 3-4 years straight and it was always during the SC-UT weekend.
