Was just there a couple of weeks ago in a cabin. Hope the rain helps put it out. Cheesy, but beautiful area.

I was at Laconte shelter Saturday night. The entire area is burning now. I live an hour from the GSMNP on the NC side. Fires are on every side of me.Thankfully, the closest one is 15 miles away. These POS that are starting these fires, should die by fire. Controlled burn of course. The men and women here fighting these fires around the clock should all be commended. These people deserve the presidential medal of freedom. Not some modern day court jesters.

I hope the rain douses them really good, that was my kids favorite vacation and I have friends with properties in the area.

The Gatlinburg fire is suspected to be arson. Dollywood is evacuating now, they say the fire is headed their way.

Every single one in this area started because of arson. I know they caught two people already. They soaked tires in kerosene and rolled them down the mountain.

We haven't had any rain of note since. We are 16" below the water table. It is DRY. In town yesterday, one of the local white trash threw a cigarette into the median and lit it aflame.

All of this is made worse by high gradient winds that have existed over much of Alabama, Mississippi, and Tennessee today. High wind just multiplies it x10.

Burned out forest will recover nicely. I'd just hate to see any part of the town burn

If there is any good news, it's that the rain is almost there. Hopefully it will be enough to help.

We had high winds today in East TN, up to 40mph. This spread the fires even worse and faster than they have been. As others have been saying, some good rain is on the way. Just hope there is minimal damage till it gets here.
