Just wondering. Shouldn’t we be at a point where 100% gas is cheaper than the 10% ethanol grade of gas?

I have no clue...I also have no clue why the gas station down the road from me went up 10 cents over the last two days

I am not refering to octane, refering to 100% gas being cheaper than 90% gas + the 10% ethanol additive.

Gas is like crawfish. No logic on pricing because you’re going to buy it.

Think you're overestimating the cost of corn

I was under the impression that our government was subsidizing the growing of corn for ethanol. I am not afraid to admit I could be 100% wrong.

What I don't get is when the price of oil goes down, gas goes down but motor oil doesn't. It's also bullshite that diesel costs so much more than gas, but that's been a problem for years now.

The only reason gas is not $4 above cost is because most states have laws that target obvious gouging, so gas only gouges you just enough to fly under the radar.

Price of ethanol is basically set by the price of gas not the cost of producing. Many if not most of the ethanol plants have shut down selling ethanol except for what is mandated by the government. Most gas blends have a limit posted on the maximum amount of ethanol it may contain but that doesn’t mean that it has any at any given time .

Federal tax is ~18¢ per gallon and state tax another 20¢ per gallon. I don't know what the refining cost is, but it isn't much. 30 or 40¢ per gallon, tops. Demand is at a record low.

They're fricking us.

EXCEPT...as it relates to crawfish : too much rain/water= price goes up, too little rain/water= price goes up, too cold/cool= price goes up, too warm/hot=price goes UP !
Then add in the 'timing' of these events is either too early or too late...and you guessed it, price goes UP...LMAO !
