Ok Im ready to make the switch to gas logs in my fireplace. Any ideas on who to call in Baton Rouge? Costs? How difficult to install? Upside/downside?

Whatever you do, get vent free logs.

Got mine at woodburners on airline. I had a new build house so it was already set up for gas logs so all I had to do was buy the logs and hook them up. Took about 30 minutes. I got a set that had a remote control. Think I paid about $900 for the log set.

If gas is already run, not too difficult.

vent free get much hotter, but they don't look as realistic because the flame can't touch the logs

When we moved, the new house had a gas fireplace... Old house had a wood burning... I wish we had the wood burning back... Gas is clean and easy, but it's not the same...

I can take a shite in your fireplace. Upside, downside, whichever form of acrobatics you'd like to witness.
