and making false statements to FBI

quote:

Joey Meek, the friend of accused Charleston church shooter Dylann Roof, has been indicted on charges of concealing information related to the shootings and of making false statements to the FBI, including withholding details of Roof's plan, according to court documents unsealed Friday.

Unless they feel he could have stopped the people from getting killed I don't see why it matters if he lied to the FBI or not...the people were already dead.

I don't know ALL the facts, but this seems like a trumped up charge.

It doesn't matter that it is a crime? You have a couple of choices:

1. Cooperate fully

2. Remain silent

3. Lawyer up

If you go with,

4. Lie, mislead, obfuscate

Then, you have to accept there are criminal consequences from this.

but can they prove they thought he really believed he was serious...I am just wondering if this means anyone can be charged with a crime if they hear someone they know talking shite and then low and behold that person actually does it

well he looks like a dumbass so I am not surprised he did either of the 3. My only point was...he did turn his friend in correct? and you can't bring back the people he killed. The crime was solved.

I don't know about all the details. If he lied or made material misrepresentations to the authorities (short of perjury) - those are charges that can be pursued.

If it was all "after the fact" type of stuff, he'll probably walk, whether or not they need his testimony against Roof.

On the other hand, if he was around the situation and they suspect he was involved prior to the shooting? Well, they may be bringing him down as an example.

As a final point - this is not legal advice, just good advice - it would be inappropriate for me to offer anyone legal advice on this forum as I will not be representing any of you, but:

Do not speak to the police without legal counsel. It is asking for trouble. I'm not advocating a "snitches get stitches" and there may be an exception if you're clearly the victim and not a suspect in any way.

However, once they start asking you about your involvement or read you your rights? Exercise your rights to remain silent and have counsel present during questioning. They're not kidding around. And the higher profile the case, the less they're kidding around.

Good morning dumbass. What if part of his withheld evidence was that a church member was the mastermind or that there were more planned attacks???????
