By 4/10 I mean Mon-Thur with a 10 hr workday. Not asking if you would take it, I mean would you support that being the new normal for every 9-5 style job.

Holiday weekend got me thinking, since lots of folks dipping out of the office early today. Seems like fridays most people just go through the motions away, but usually are in the office or 10+ hours any other day. No brainer to me. Only people I can think wouldn't like it would be parents of kids who do a lot of after school sports or activities. Who else would oppose the movement?

Yeah, studys show that employees are more productive per hour that way.

I just worked 28 hours during a 48 hour duty period, good thing I have 10 days off to recover

Hell no. I tried to do that schedule and it was hell with my 1 hour commute time. It was very hard for me to tend to my kids after school stuff because I got home so late. My days ended up being 12+ hours when the commute time was factored in. That's way too long of a work day for me when it's 4 consecutive days.

I guess that's what I'm asking, why hasn't this gained more traction? I know I definitely get more done when I know I'm not leaving soon.

I'd support 4/8 as the new normal. Work smarter not longer.

This would then be the case for Thursdays.

Having said that, yes, I would prefer that schedule if I could work 7 to 5.

I thought pilots could only do 8 hrs in a 24 hr period.

I mean that's your fault.

Bring on the new hours!

Absolutely. This would be better for everyone. I work a 9/80 right now, would take a 4/10 in a heartbeat.

I was thinking about this the other day. Would this happening across the board impact the economy in a positive way? People would be more likely to travel for a three day weekend than a two.

I support whatever schedule my employer and I find mutually satisfactory, and DGAF what anyone else is happy with.

I would certainly support, although that schedule would be rough if both parents were on that schedule
