Yep, hats off to a guy who has the money to do something about the problem and actually gets off his butt and tries something. It might work and then again it might not but atleast he tried unlike abunch of other NIMBYs in NOLA and other cities that just bitch and whine about a problem.

but he's a giant doucher.
Most ppl are, he is just in the public light.

A safe French Quarter IS good for all of New Orleans though. Tourism keeps the city moving and tourists predominantly go to one place.
Yep. There is alot of other industries, but tourism is the biggest and most visible. An unsafe french quarter would be a major blow to NOLA.

He's not funding it. He called a lazy politician-Moon's kid Mitch-out and crossed the line in the sand he drew on local TV.
Cliff Notes: SDT had family political $ from St. Bernard. Invested in boutique hotels in NOLA after coming off a stint as Lenny Kravitz's PA for several years. Invested in and made a fortune founding a waste management company right after Katrina. Sold it off in 2011 making even more.
Got his home burglarized in the Quarter. Got fed up like everyone else. Spent 10 stacks of High Society on an ad he produced blaming Mitch Landrieu for the crime situation.
Landrieu told him if its so easy fix it yourself. He put up his own money to fund a three month pilot program. He paid premiums for off-duty cops, developed an app to crowdsource complaints re: violent crime and respond faster than 911's hopeless stats, and then rewarded them for their work and effort when responding to calls.
He complained that other businesses should step up, and the NOLA Convention and Visitors Bureau did, funding the initiative for 5 more years.
So he's not funding it anymore, but he stepped up, called a fat-cat politician's bluff, and then put his money where his mouth was to make things better. Lastly, he rebuked the City's other money machines to pay up like he did after proving his solution worked. Which resulted in someone coming off cash to keep it working.
It's a HUGE stain for Mitch Landrieu to be quite honest. Got owned by a wealthy citizen who created a solution to French Quarter crime in 90 days.

don't worry Landrieu just has to deal with the statues first. That is the root of the problem, the private companies are just trimming the leaves Landrieu is pulling up crime by its roots which is confederate statues.
Yes that was sarcasm

I have heard people talk about skeletons in his closet. I for one, don't care.
He comes off as a wanna be rockstar, but it is better than Mitch worrying about state politics instead of running a city.
Hope he gets slapped down for Governor again.

I'm sure he has dabbled in cocaine and orgies from his hundred millionaire and former rockstar lifestyle. But who the frick wouldn't? I think that makes him more of a real person than a lifelong politician.
Who cares? Guy is clearly pretty intelligent, been very successful in his various businesses, and seems passionate about improving New Orleans.

Rumor was that Rita Benson used to party pretty hard with him at times. Like she was into the drugs aLot.
His family has had money for many years. He didn't just get rich due to the waste company
