Are people really ignorant enough that they are willing to pay $20 for a simple coaxial antenna? I read an article the other day that most millennials are not aware that local channels broadcast over the air and that you can get them for free. I'm worried for our future.

To be fair, why would they be aware if no one ever told them? They grew up with cable. It's not like OTA TV is heavily advertised.

I doubt they care. They love Netflix.

Is coming up with twenty bucks difficult for you?

I have two backup indoor antennas on two of my HD TVs just for those times when Cox is experiencing an outage.

Mine was about $50-60 but I ran a decent one up to my attic like this one

I live in BR but I get shitty reception on CBS and ABC with a simple rabbit ears antenna

Someone was bitching about the networks not streaming the Oscars or something live. I told them that it was free by antenna and they looked at me like I was crazy.

You can catch 20 to 30 channels in BR depending on your antenna. Some of them are only available by antenna.

Not hard at all. I just got one with a 30-40 ft coaxial cable. I had my wife test the channels and when I found a decent spot I mounted it on the 2x4s and dropped the cable down the wall. Punched a small hole in the sheetrock and connected it to the TV. You can do it yourself fairly easily.

ETA - obviously mounting it is the last step. I found some places in my attic got slightly better reception than others.

No. I just don't think it is very smart when you can get one of the same quality at the local Dollar Tree.

I'm talking about a basic coax antenna, not an attic antenna. I also have a big antenna in my attic to pick up the local channels.

Did you word this right, because it sounds like you're saying that $20 is a bad price for a digital antenna? That's kind of the going rate on the low end.

We have SlingTV so I use it for football games etc. I don't miss traditional cable or the bill.
