Yes. There is a more detailed thread on msb. Hit hard and his neck snapped back. Died in ambulance.

Not jumping to conclusions, but it seems most of the news stories about high school sports deaths are about pre-existing heart conditions. Could be a traumatic injury or something else. Just my amateur and lowly-informed observation.

Edit: msb thread says traumatic injury. My thoughts are with family and friends. It's a rough sport that is unfortunately not without risks.

It's rare, but it still scares me.

I mean, at the college and NFL levels, the players are all mostly at the same athletic level with a tremendous amount of preparation in the weight room.

High school? You could have a 6'2 220 college recruit plow into a 5'8 140 teenager who's out there just to have fun.
