Better question... is why did one of the cheating girls friends even tell you this? And why now? Why didn't she just leave it be?

For an extended period you certainly had questions of "What exactly went wrong? What did I learn? Was she the one that got away? Is it all my fault? -what happened?
During that phase, you begin to put together a reasonable conclusion of what went wrong and then are able to slowly have closure and move on.
When you learn 5 years down the road that this girl wasn't faithful for about a year and you had no clue...yeah, that will mess with you big time because the reasons you thought you broke up were a lie to yourself or a false understanding of reality.
A super hot woman is very hard to get over if you really cared for her during that time together. I don't care what other say on that...
I understand how the OP could have these feelings
In a few days, you will get over it because you really have moved on, however this news brings up old wounds. It shows you had a deep love for the person with a mix of lust probably.
Bottom line, a woman that cheats usually had/has daddy issues.
