Recover the vehicle. Enterprise is self-insured.

Rental companies will almost always rather pay out of pocket than go through insurance since any rate change would affect their entire fleet. Assuming they don't self-insure.

Companies have to protect themselves. If you have a boss looking at your gps constantly then you work for a shitty company. Not telling you is a huge red flag

Everyone saying to damage or disconnect the unit i would think again. My fleet team routinely deducts damages from paychecks. Best case scenario the cost just hits your operating units expenses and the bosses think your a shithead. Worst case they'll pull it straight form your paycheck.

My company installed inward/outward facing cameras with GPS last year. Kinda sucked not being able to text or eat while driving but you get used to it. I only used mine for work before anyways. The guys that had the most problems adjusting were the ones using their company vehicles to haul their boat around or take their family to Florida for a week.

My old company did this, and started tracking our phones too. THey were taking $100 a month from me for the personal use of the vehicle, so yes it was a company vehicle, but we were allowed any personal use with it.
Then they wanted to have weekly meetings about our driving from a report they got about us speeding or not backing into parking spots (which was fricking retarded b/c i'm not backing into my driveway) and other stupid shite. Could not believe we would waste time as a group, once a week, to talk about our driving.

I quit driving the company car altogether and drove my old truck i had, and i forwarded all my work cell phone calls to my personal cell. They didn't really care for that next time we had our stupid arse how we drive meeting and they saw that my car didn't move all week. I didn't really care though, i was on my way out anyways as i knew i had another job i was switching to in the next 2 months.

The tracking device will have power running to it. If properly wire, should have a fuse. Short out the fuse. If they pull the vehicle in and fix the fuse, just short out the fuse again in a week or so. Rinse repeat.

I do it all the time. Even if its just a tech rewiring it because someone screwed around with it, you're paying for his time and with an a-hole fee on top. People have no clue how much these are used for negotiating insurance rates, defending lawsuits, etc. Sure some bosses use them to micro-manage their employees, and that sucks. But these are almost required in today's business climate. Any company with any reasonably sized fleet will have some form of passive monitoring. The complexity of that will vary based on the size and strategy. If you don't like it, negotiate a different arrangement. Get a vehicle allowance, charge mileage, etc. Or find a different job. Quite acting like a spoiled brat because the company is protecting its assets and liability.

You mention they tried to slip it by you, does that mean they never announced to you or other company vehicle drivers that tracking or monitoring devices were installed on vehicles?
I don’t know how big your company is but my SIL works for a large company that has 1000’s of company vehicles in their national fleet and in many of them they installed cameras that monitor inside and outside the cab, they monitor vehicle speed, frequent stops, hard or aggressive stops and can review video to determine seat belt use, may monitor some other stuff but they made a company wide announcement when they did it which included advising any employee who tried to disable or otherwise tamper with the system that it will lead to immediate job termination.

That’s correct...never any mention of anything like that. Typically, when I get a new vehicle I like to take a couple of hours to familiarize myself with it(I.e.see how the jack works, locate the fuse box, etc.). When I popped the fuse box, I saw a wire that didn’t look stock so I traced it out and found the tracking device under the dash...

Dont park at the strip club. Park at McDonald's and walk. You'll thank me later.

Oh and dont use the work van to do side jobs. The boss doesn't like that. It got me canned. I never admitted to it but yeah...

You have a car owned by your employer and didn't assume they could locate their property if you go AWOL or give them reasonable suspicions about shenanigans? That's on you.

It's like a company-owned laptop. They surveilling.
