Now that is closer to the truth.
Look, Colorado is a great place to live and raise kids. Born and raised in La., moved here in '88 after getting laid off, and have had a great last 26 years.
You can avoid the hipsters/liberals if you want...

I would never live in Boulder. They have a tax on all plastic grocery bags.

Wow. I thought the governance of Ann Arbor was crazy. Sounds like Ft. Collins is more my speed, i.e. normal. As far as having too much California in it, all Western states must say the same thing. A friend who lives in Missoula, MT complains about California transplants every time I talk to him.

Boulder is still a great place in a lot of ways (you'd rather live in Baton freakin Rouge, for chrissakes??) but it's not nearly what it used to be. Sort of a microcosm of what's happened to Austin, but even more extreme. Snotty trustafarian liberal types from out of state have really eroded what I would call its 'cool' factor.
Haven't spent nearly as much time in Ft Collins but I always thought it was just boring. Boring downtown, boring people, boring college. This was a good 15-20 years ago, though, so by now it's probably perfect

yeah, i was thinking to avoid the hipsters he could consider longmont instead of boulder, loveland or greeley (ick) instead of ft collins.

I lived in Boulder and went to CU for a year in 2011-2012. The girls were hot, the campus and city are beautiful, the night life is fun, ski mountains aren't too far, and the weed is great.

I went down to Fort Collins a fews times to hangout with friends from CSU and I'd say my experiences were pretty similar to life in Boulder.

The main difference between the 2 is that the people who go to CU and live in Boulder as a whole had more money than the people in Fort Collins but the city of Boulder itself wasn't for expensive to live than Fort Collins.

No. Cheyenne is awful. So is the rest of the eastern part of that state.

Yeah, the whole state doesn't look like Jackson/Yellowstone/Grand Teton... But boy, the NW corner of Wyoming is fantastic.

Overall, I'd much rather live in Colorado.

For sure. People go to the NW corner of Wyoming and think it's so great. Aside from that corner, Wyoming is freaking terrible. Sage brush, dust, wind, and antelope. That's it.

I've actually been to cities in California and Canada that have outright banned plastic bags. No plastic at the grocery store.

shite, this one town Carpenteria, CA doesn't allow drive through restaurants. So you've got McDonalds and Taco Bells in the middle of strip malls..

Regarding OP - I'd rather live in Fort Collins, nice college town. Beautiful scenery, strong economy...

I've been to towns in Texas that charge for plastic bags.

I wasn't talking about Dallas, but it looks like they'll be charging 5 cents per bag, paper or plastic.
