Strain's time in court will not end after the sex crimes trial. On Dec. 6, he will go to a federal court on 16 corruption charges — each tied to an alleged kickback scheme at the work-release program he privatized as sheriff.

work release is the biggest scam in parish politics. The sad thing is it’s been going on forever, everywhere. There’s even a movie about it that most of us have seen.

My company did some work at the WBR work release facility. If/when cazes is ever called to the stand I’ll have plenty to say.

his defense was that it was a massive government and fbi conspiracy to take him down.

I don't know Jack Strain, although I vaguely remember when he was a fat-arse cop in Abita. I laughed when my grandfather would call him Boo Boo. Anyway, of the handful of people I know who do know him, or have worked for him, they were a bit shocked when all of this came out into the open. Crooked as shite and a thief? Oh, yeah. No problem believing that. A serial pedo rapist? None of them saw that coming.

Same. I remember when he was fat back in the late 80's early 90's. Looks like a completely different person now. The work release/kickback stuff didn't suprise me at all. The Abita PD was disbanded not long after he left for, among other things, arms dealing lol. But the notion that he was literally raping people for 40 years and none of them said anything while remaining friends with him was a bit shocking.

I’m not surprised it took forever.

It was well guarded secret and I figure each of the five thought he was the only one.

That’s just not stuff men talk about.

But somehow one learned of another, then another and so on. Then they got the courage to start the legal process.

That's the face of a man who knows it's all lead up to hanging at the end of a cheap bed sheet in a dingy jail cell.

I feel sorry for Strain's wife and family. Collateral damage for years to come.

On some level, I feel sorry for Strain and all those that fall into these circumstances (sexual abuse) and can't find the self-discipline to resist the impulses. Did Strain have this baked into his DNA? Is there a back-story to this that we may not be seeing? Please, no sermons on making excuses for him. I'm not. He deserves everything he's getting.

I'm just surprised it took so long for all of this to surface. Now that he's about to face judgement, he's not going to last long in prison because he's probably going to run into quite a few inmates that he helped put there and there's no way they going keep their mouths shut.

I don't think I could ever convict someone for offenses that occurred 30 years ago where the alleged victim(s) were still alive and failed to come forward. Too much chance for a wrongful conviction.

If this guy was being framed for the crimes he was just convicted of, he should had taken the two standard polygraph's plus the 3rd one that the Feds would make you take to make sure that you clear your name of all of the allegations. From my understanding he didn't take any that I am aware of.

Maybe so because buttfricking dirty pond water into a 4th grader’s a-hole is pretty deplorable behavior.

Understandable, but if you knew them you just might share my desire to chase them all into Bayou Lacombe with pitchforks and wait for the bubbles to stop. (Or maybe you're kinder than I am.)

When adults of a legal age claim rape 20 years after the fact, and want money, or are trying to take down a famous person, yeah, I wonder and ask a lot of questions.

Young boys raped by a male family member? The forming human brain can do some strange things and perhaps that includes repressing these memories or otherwise not understanding what is happening.

So I think this is different than your typical 20-30 year old allegation.

Strain's attorney is well known for criminal defense of politicians / wealthy people... but usually in matters of corruption. Him defending this child rape case was strange to me, and so was the fact that they did not present a defense? I assume they thought the jury would just not believe the victims? Otherwise, did they try to do a plea bargain? Maybe the government declined?

Admits not knowing about the case. Forms an opinion anyway.

Jury found him guilty. Doesn't matter how long ago it was. It's a shame he's been living free the whole time.
