Which is basically a Taurus with a Lincoln grill now. It deserves to be unpopular.
They aren't even really trying.

Both Ford and Chevy want to continue each model line as a mass production vehicle. The new 4 and 6 cylinder options make a lot of power, and are more economical, but you end up having too many units on the road. I think it eventually loses base customer appeal, especially when so many other options are available today. They should stick to a V8 power plant for both cars, and concentrate the extra production elsewhere.

Funny you say that, I had to google what the car looked like, had no idea.

Not to mention the price of vehicles today. Pretty outrageous that a new vehicle today averages around $31k.

The time frame for the shutdown will be from October 10 – October 17. There are more than 3,000 workers at this plant, but they will all be paid despite the plant being closed.
Got to love unions. Their ridiculous wages run them out of business but they still seem to get paid.

I'm guessing you haven't seen the actual new continental. You're thinking about the MKS. The new continental looks like it stole a bunch of styling ques from Jag.

Are we looking at the same thing? That looks like a Taurus to me.

They are both full size cars, so there's that.

I have. It's the same lame front drive chassis with awkward proportions that Ford uses for their Taurus, which is almost always the worst POS on the rental car lot.

I think the Impala or the Altima takes that prize.

Restaurants have also slowed a lot recently. President Hillary is going to get hit with a recession the day she takes office.

I travel a lot for work. The Altima is a pleasant rental. Most of them are stripped down though. Not a fan of the CVT.
The newer Impala is not very common with National yet, but the one that I did rent a few months ago was loaded and I liked it a lot. Maybe my favorite sedan in that class right now.

The Chrysler 300 was really nice when I rented it. Practically brand new which meant everything still worked

Lincoln buyers have the oldest age of any other car brand.
> Avg. age of buyer: 61.0 years
> 2013 U.S. unit sales: 81,694
> Unit sales pct. chg. (2012-2013): -0.6%

Why the shutdown in October? With being this close to the holidays why not shut down for Thanksgiving or Christmas. That way the workers get a week off paid during the holidays. Or do they already do this?

It's a struggling brand.
I don't understand Lincoln's existence anymore now that the popular Town Car is no longer made. They seem to be modeled after Buick and Acura (which are probably their most direct competitors) in that 100% of their cars are based on lower priced mainstream cars. Unfortunately they don't sell anywhere near as well as those two brands.
There is a reason people think Lincolns look like a fancy Taurus. It's because that's exactly what they are.
Taurus is actually a pretty terrible car even considering that it's a $25,000 Ford sedan. I get stuck with them pretty often. The thought of paying $45,000 for a Lincoln version of the same terrible car just seems incredibly stupid.

I don't dislike them. Better cars exist for the price though.

Why do you think they have Wooderson doing their commercials?
