This was several years back. It was an ‘08. It had about 12,000 miles on it and got it for 34. It was coming off a corporate lease and still had the plastic covers on on the 3rd row carpet. Bought it from Texas Auto Direct. They may be comparably priced now though.

They are pretty close price wise and 34k is adding a few options

Sequoia - new engine this year already having major issues
I have heard the opposite that it has been incredibly smooth with the Sequoia because this was a Lexus motor brought over to the Tundra the year prior and the Tundra ended up being the guinea pig which has allowed for an ultra smooth transition for the Sequoias to the new platform with an all new drivetrain.

I do agree with the above poster that the Sequoia is not in this conversation. It is more Tahoe, Expedition, Yukon, Armada class in size compared to the Suburban, Expedition XL, and Yukon XL.

Laughably unreliable? I’m legit curious if you can give some examples?? I hear this a lot here but personally have had zero issues.

I have a friend that’s about to make a Lemon Law claim on hers because it’s been in the shop so much.

Seems like most people who don't object to the cost still don't see the value over their lesser brand top end counterparts. We didn't look at the Escalade due to living in Atlanta, TBH. But fair enough here.

We’ve been happy with our GMC Yukon XL’s and any full size GM SUV that we’ve had (10 years worth). My sister and sister-in-law have always had Yukon XL’s, also (20 years worth), and have been happy with them.

The only issue we’ve had is a fuel pump that went out in our ‘23 model that took a while to get fixed because of microchip delays. But the dealership put us in a Tahoe for that period and it was fine.

My family has owned a ‘99 Expedition, ‘02 Expedition, ‘09 Expedition, ‘13 Expedition EL, ‘18 Sequioa, ‘20 Expeiditon Max FX4, and a ‘22 Tahoe.

The Expedition and Tahoe ride about the same but I put AT tires on the expedition so it’s a bit rougher now. The Tahoe had some initial issues but has been fine since.
No major issues out of any. The Sequoia as the worst just bc of being outdated.

I don’t get the love for the Tahoe/Yukon besides the beefy grill on the Yukon. The Expeditions have been very reliable and had more legroom in 3rd row for years. Would have preferred a v8 option but the eco boost has been fun to drive.

2021 Tahoe. How'd you like it?

We loved it, got rid of it because we needed more space and wanted 4wd for around the property. Went with the suburban z71.

Have owned both. Ride is different. Keep maintenance up and both will do well. Sold suburban with 285,000 to a high school kid. Traded 1st Expedition with 265,000. Current Expedition has 168,000. Love it

Are you wanting comfort or ruggedness? If both, go for any of the '22-'24 Karlmann Kings. They're even bulletproof in case you have to go to the Rouse's at Drusilla.

All of the large SUVs have their reliability issues, so pick your poison:

Expedition - eco boost problems are well documented

Sequoia - new engine this year already having major issues

Suburban/Yukon XL - notorious lifter failures and tranny issues

Wagoneer - beautiful vehicle, but laughably unreliable

I'd get a two or three year old Sequoia with the old engine. It'll roll for 300k+ trouble free miles.

Think about how many more expeditions were sold than competitors, especially sequoias.

Suburban is the way to go here.

Or Yukon if the local GMC dealer is good.

Buy a nice used Armada AND QX80 instead of a new suburban. They don't hold their value for shite but are great, comfortable and powerful vehicles.

Use the extra money you save for gas, they like to use it.

The level of finishing has always been better on our GMC's versus our Chevy's, we know the GMC dealer and salesman, and the dealership is between our house and office/school. They make things really easy when we drop the vehicles off for service, etc. I switched from driving Fords to driving GMC pickups for these reason and because I wanted a half-ton diesel.

My wife got her 22 Expedition at the same time her brother got a 22 Z71 Tahoe. All kinds of different feedback I can give comparing the two. I will say one of the most telling differences that I feel separates the Expedition from the Tahoe is the seating. Ford makes a way more comfortable and spacious seat than the Tahoe.

We have owned a 2017 yukon, 2019 suburban, and now a 2021 expedition max. The suburban transmission went out and stranded us in Natchitoches with 67k miles. Traded it in for the Expedition. 57k miles on the expedition now and it has been a great vehicle for us. The suburban was a bit more fuel efficient than the expedition. The seats are a bit more comfortable in the Ford. Neighbor has an AT4 and those seats are stiff to me.
