That would be me.
I used to golf for fun. I'd usually drive with a 5 wood because I couldn't hit a driver to save my life. And too inconsistent with a 3. So I'd gladly settle for a straight 175. And almost every other shot was a 7 iron because that was the iron I could hit. I'd usually golf across the street from my house at Braithwaite, where it was not unusual to see guys teeing off in white shrimp boots (I kid you not). Or I'd occasionally hit the duffers course at City Park (with 240 yard par 4s).
A specialist I referred to and often went to lunch with lived in English Turn and invited me to play there. He wasn't a big guy but could drive nearly 300 yards. Walking out the clubhouse we see Dr. J. Not another dentist whose first name starts with J, but NBA legend Dr. fricking J. Never have I felt so out of place.
