Yeah, because Cheers has clearly aged well and is cutting edge, and something like Breaking Bad there's no way in hell it would have been greenlit.

I don't watch tv because there's nothing on that catches my interest

It's still like that in some areas. I live in Texas now and it's like that in the suburbs (I know, the suburbs are worse than hell for the adrenaline junkies of the OT)

I just wanted to chime in on this thread and say that those of you who were born in 1985 can't really claim that you grew up in the 80's. You were a toddler when the 80's culture ended.

Yeah we had good cartoons but movies and shows are better now, due to special effects if nothing else. People complain about CGI but it sure beats puppets and crap.

do you ever just sit back and wonder where the time went and think back to how simple life was back then?

Every time I'm tempted to do that, I remind myself that back then I didn't have to pay my own way through life but someone else sure did.

I also watched some 80s TV the other day on Netflix. Caught some family ties, the wonder years, cheers, doogie houser. Great stuff

The stories were fine but the video quality wasn't.

I was born in '76 and have fond memories of the 80s. I used to think it's because it was a superior decade but now I'm convinced it's because I was a child who lacked for nothing. Apart from my parents getting divorced , it was no worries. I love listening to 80s music and mentally going back in time...I try to encourage MY sons (12 and 9) to enjoy this time and not stress over anything

It's funny because you weren't even born yet.

Matter of fact, are you even old enough to vote?

The 80's - everyone was scared shitless of satanic cults infiltrating their daycare and schools. The 90's - I swear it seemed like the record for murders was broken every single year. In memory that's all that was discussed on the news. Nostalgia is a powerful thing though. This is a much safer time to be a kid by almost every statistical measure

Yep. The 80s had the Cold War, the 90s the Iraq war. The reason everything seemed better is because you were a kid and didn't worry about that bullshite. You were worried about getting your He-Mans arm back on the socket, or the missing piece of your Mouse Trap game.

People our age then were worrying about the same things we are now.

I loved growing up in the 80s and it's pop culture, but adults were dealing with the same societal and world issues that exist today.

Yeah that was me but I'm more nostalgic for my teen years and the 90s than I am the 80s.
