I just had a 45 min phone interview with a company about a position that needed to be filled. The girl who interviewed me actually found me on linkedin and asked for me to apply for this position. I have not been through an interview process in about 6 years and don't feel like I answered the questions asked correctly.

After the interview I asked if there was a time when I would hear back from the organization to further my interview process and she said they don't typically get back to candidates but If I was considered I would hear back from them in a week.

So, should when should I send a follow up email?

Whenever you do, make sure to proof read it.

You should always send a thank you email. It doesn't even have to be very long, just have a couple sentences thanking them for their time and saying you think you could be a real asset to their blah blah blah, the standard stuff that you basically have to do. At the end say you look forward to hearing back from them soon. Done.

Don't follow up at all. It won't help as you probably spoke with someone in HR who has no clue about the position nor could they help persuade the hiring manager to proceed with you as a candidate.

Shitty advice. People can tell when you proofread and it makes your message seem impersonal. Shoot from the hip. Just tell them what's in your heart and you'll do great.

I've never sent a follow up after any interview and gotten every job I've interviewed for. It doesn't do anything for you, if you're worth of the job you get it.

that's great and all, but it in aboslutely no way could hurt his chances. Odds are most everyone else they interviewed is going to send one, so he might as well too. What's the harm?

One week. That's the time frame she said and it'll give them from Monday to Friday. I would probably call before an email. They can't avoid a phone call as well. If she tells you they're still reviewing it or some bullshite just forget it.

You shouldn't have told the truth.

Is this girl someone at the actual company, or one of those recruiting/staffing company employees?

Honestly, I'm kind of confused by your situation. Yo haven't interviewed in 6 years, which indicates to me that you've been working for at least six years somewhere. Yet a "girl" calls you saying she found you on LinkedIn? What did she say her position was with the company?

She works in the HR department for the company. After the interview she told me if I had any other questions the best way to get in touch with her is email since the company headquarters is out of Canada.

I often receive messages on linkedin from company recruiters about different job possibilities and usually just ignore them bc I'm content with the job I have now. I was interested in this position so I went through and sent over my resume and filled out an application online. The HR recruiter then called me to set up a phone interview.

Sounds like the interview was just a scam to steal your identity.
