Florida City Cop Shoots And Kills Dog In Front Of Owner

FLORIDA CITY (CBSMiami) – A dog owner is mourning the loss of her pet after a seemingly-harmless encounter with a Florida City detective.
It was a routine morning for Gillian Palacios, co-owner of a two-year-old bully breed mix named Duchess, who says she was getting another dog ready to take a ride.
“I was packing up the car,” said Palacios. “I’d left the passenger door a little bit open because I had another dog that I needed to take to the vet this morning. And as I went back inside to go get him, a police officer came by and saw that the car door was open.”
“One of our detectives was in the area and noticed one of the car doors was open,” said Florida City Police Department public information officer Ken Armenteros. “The detective was concerned that there may have been a crime that occurred so he got out to alert the homeowners.”
Surveillance cameras set up outside the family’s home show the detective knocking on the front door. And just as soon as it opened, Duchess ran out and scared the officer.
Justified or Doggie Murder?

Cop acts like a big man and kills a family dog then runs away like a little bitch. Typical.

Well that was disturbing.
Not to mention he was shooting in the direction of the front door.

The tail wagging was pretty depressing.

If that cop was still there when I got back with my shotgun I would have fricking gave him three seconds to run before I shot his arse like he did my dog. That's like killing a child to dog owners

How much harm if any at all can a dog like that do to a grown arse man with a gun..
I dont think a cop is allowed to shoot an un-armed civilian if attacked.

So what if the owner would have immediately pulled a gun and shot the officer, using the same logic that this violent breed of human (a police officer) unloaded his weapon unprompted on my property, killing my pet, so I viewed him as an immediate threat to my own safety and protected myself.

I am not sure that dog was even attacking him. Could be just excited and running towards him..
That is just heartbreaking to even attempt to see.
Some people are far more afraid of animals than others. This guy may have overreacted.
I wish police had a secondary non life threatening weapon readily available on their hip.. whether it be a close up taser or something.. I dunno.. He should be prepared for this when he's walking up on someones property without notice..
Anyone could have a dog in their yard that wants to simply run up, maybe jump on on, or love on a stranger in the yard.. and guys like this have a natural fear of animals and may overreact. Not sure this guy should be in the profession. I don't want to judge the man too much though, because I'm not sure what I would do. I don't believe I would go for my gun or at least shoot right away. It's easy for me to say that, but I have been attacked by a german shep unprovoked in my neighborhood just jogging the area. I was in my teens so I just ran like heck, pushed him off and continued running like crazy across the street and jumping over a huge obstacle of some sort and wound up falling hard and breaking my wrist.. Had a cast for 6 months and it's a bone that doesn't really heal well and surgery would have been best, but I chose not to.. I still have pain in my wrist to this day from it. It was a really intense moment.

But but the cop was uncomfortable. When cops are uncomfortable it's their right to kill who they please
