PA Thank god it isn't us this time. I don't think we're even pledging at Arkansas Alpha anymore.

That FIJI nickname is terrible. They should have cut top right for that shitty disgusting baseball chin facial hair he has going on. Can't grow real frat stubble? Shave that shite.

Let the jealous GDI, I got cut and Im pissed thread ensue.

If you can't agree that hazing is 110% stupid and not worth it for anyone involved, I don't know what to tell you. I was in a fraternity and it was probably the best decision I ever made (to pledge), but now that I'm an adult, I kind of cringe at some of the stuff that went on. Not even hazing stuff because we really didn't haze, just stupid group think type of stuff. I guess some people never grow out of that mentality.

It's dumber than shite.

But fun as hell to laugh at in hindsight. Beyond gnarly hazing, it's not that big of a deal, its college, you're half baked, half retarded the whole time anyway, at least I was. I look at it as a coming of age thing, a primal regression before you get tea-bagged by the real world.

As long as you grow out of it and don't continue to be a selfish little prick, it doesn't bother me too much.

How did they "make" someone do that such that it is a criminal offense?

I can get the University and national fraternity coming down on these guys for this stupidity, I suppose, but I don't understand how peer pressure to do something stupid rises to the level of a crime, if the "victims" could have just said 'screw you guys, I'm going home.'

Its not that easy man.

And unfortunately, not much will happen to them. Kids will probably get suspended, maybe kicked out of school and the fraternity might get probabtion/kicked off for a couple of semesters and then they come right back.

Kinda sad, but thats the game my friend.

Thanks for the post. I show shot like this to my kids often and tell them "look at these losers, why would you ever disrespect your beliefs and let these idiots make you do something against your will, just go be able to be in their group?"

I teach my kids to be their own self.

I'm not anti-frat. I'm anti doing stupid fricking shot just to be accepted by anyone.

You got downvoted, but I agree.

I guarantee you those downvoting you and the frat defenders here, are guys who had to do some pretty gay and homosexual stuff to get admitted to their frat.

Why would you basically whore yourself out and do gay stuff just to join a club of other dudes? No thanks.

I mean its not like they dipped a kid's testicles in boiling crab oil.

Seriously though, this is incredibly stupid and I am someone who has no problem with the typical hazing that went on at Alabama when I pledged five years ago. Problem is when you get a bunch of morons together and they come up with "let's make a pledge stand on ice and salt, that'll be funny!" or "let's dip this pledges nuts in boiling crab oil" or "let's sit this kid on a chair heated up with a blowtorch while he says the greek alphabet" that things get out of hand. Pledging is meant to get rid of idiots like this from the get go.

bunch of homophobes up in this bitch. I guess that's that individualism you guys are talking about. no one is forcing you to do anything. I don't see how it is any diff than being on a sports team or joining any other club, being in the military or even being in the band.

usually they all have some sort of hazing.

I think that's up to the person. our own country doesn't cultivate individualism and free thinking. Look at private schools or catholic schools. Look at what the media tells people what is right and wrong.I could go on and on. most kids share similar beliefs with their parents. That is forced on them.

so please don't give me this bullshite.

I mean Jesus I'm being hazed right now at work. TD is my only escape. Kids can't just grow up being babied all the time. If they do, they'll get out in the real world and be screwed.

When I was a pledge at Bama, we called those nights Icecapades.. Stand in the trash can for a few minutes.. get out and theyd make you do 6 inches while hitting your feet with paddles.. Thankfully we realized in early Nov that without pledges, the fraternity was fricked.. Had a nice big fight in the basement and told them we were done.. They could have their hell week but otherwise we werent doing shite anymore except cleaning the house after parties.
