Yeah, I think this started in 2005. Every person over 10 years old I believe.

I remember having to do it for the first time in 05. It was my first trip in a few years and I was thinking WTF

I hadn't either until this past September. We were asked several times on our last trip.
I guess it's a little more prevalent since the Magic Bands started testing.

There are obviously multiple benefits for Disney and the MDE system and ways to pull more cash from your wallet, but it's crazy how much info they will be able to gather just by being able to track those magic bands.

They'll know where your reservations are, what park you plan to be in by your FP+ reservations, spending habits by charging directly to the band.

No shite. Not to mention that every time you open the app it is linked to that band and Disney is storing your info as long as you have an account. If I just open the app and check wait times they will know it. It's crazy.

eta: Case in point. The new Beast's Castle counter service. They walk around to the tables to bring you your food with an iphone looking device on the cart with a layout of the tables in the dining rooms. They are able to pinpoint where you are to bring you your food by tracking your magic band.

Since I have an AP, I feel like going on and randomly making FP+ reservations I have no intentions of ever using just to throw em off.

Yes, please reserve a 9 am FP+ for Captain EO, a 10 am for Turtle Talk and a 11 am for Figment....

I try and get over on them when I can, just to keep them on their toes...I actually got away with and avoided the $10 per person no show charge for an ADR

We got stopped once. Answered the questions and they scanned our tickets. 3 fast passes at a time for each of us. Glorious day.

I was at Universal in January. 3 day pass. I knew what the fingerprint was for, but with all the people coming thru, I figured it was more of a scare tactic and it couldn't possibly work. On the second day at opening, rush of folks thru the gates, I purposely put down a different finger (index first day), tried thumb second day. They stopped me and I told them I couldn't remember with finger I originally scanned. After purposely scanning 2 different fingers and being rejected, I gave them the index and I was allowed to enter and spend my $$.

It's not a true fingerprint machine, it does not collect your fingerprint. It takes a few points of your finger from an image of your finger and assigns your finger a number and discards the image. Someone with a similar finger could make it through the gate.
