Letting his show outside of the state of Alabama is the worst thing that happened to him. People outside the state don't understand that its Jerry Springer on radio centered around college football. Everyone gets butt hurt about his show. The show was 5x better 2005-2009 before XM came in.
He disappeared and no one on that station said boo for well over a month now. All of a sudden all the stations were bringing up his name today out of the blue and mentioning how much they miss Tammy and Legend and those goofy callers. Sure sign they were told by xm to start brining him up because he's about to get his show back in satellite.
You are a classic example of the confused. He disappeared because of a business decision to not resign on contract with the previous local station that he syndicated from. Everyone was quiet because they were legally required to not talk about Finebaum due to the settlement over breach of contract suit. The local stations were battling for Finebaum. When a caller (and even some guests) would ask about Finebaum... they would cut them off (I stream WJOX daily).
The reason you are hearing about him this week is because on Monday of this week, his previous employer's rights to compete for Finebaum's contract ended. He is now essentially a free agent and XM are the ones that are going to bring the money.
It's all about business, but people make it about Bama/Tammy/Legend/RollDamnTide/etc.
BTW - Since he's been off air, he's signed a fairly big book deal.
