unloading on the fleeing truck

He never saw the kids anywhere on his property. He woke up, ran outside with his gun and started shooting at the first thing he saw, which happened to be a truck driving by.

Hilarious the sort of delusional justifications that have been thought up by folks this board.

I don't know him or any of the others involved, but I was in the court room everyday during the trial and saw/heard every piece of evidence up close and personal

He got screwed....of course I can respect that others may feel differently

It is hard to hear all the misinformation going around about this case, so much information was surpressed

I have no problem with what Fontenot did. There was a problem already in the neighborhood with things getting stolen so people including himself were on the lookout and he took action. If you go do something like stealing, then you have to put up with the consequences. Those kids who got shot put themselves in the situation. Fontenot didn't set them up or go find them, hell he had bought the gun due to all the recent burglaries. I'm tired of hearing about how the CRIMINALS are the victim. This man should be walking free. If someone got killed that was the risk they were willing to take whether it happened while they were driving away or not.

is Seth Fontenot a little bit retarded?

That theory makes a lot more sense than his actual defense.

I was under the impression these were the kids that burglarized his stuff.

Like I said, stupid to start popping off rounds. I ONLY understand his frustration and wanting to do something, not his shooting the kid.

That being said, If I see someone stealing shite on my property they will probably end up with a bullet in them. If they are still on my property that is.

I don't know where to start so I'll just say I hope you aren't in any position that requires rational thinking and decision making.

Lilly: I live ~125 miles away from Lafayette, so this case hasn't received much coverage over here. What was suppressed? How did he get screwed?

You signed up to TD specifically to bump two threads to defend a stranger you don't know? One thread being ~2 weeks old, the other 2 months old.

I would comment with some detail but I got banned for a while for discussing one of the individuals involved and his potential of becoming an LSU Football Tiger.

Does not matter to me if you believe why I commented on these thread or if you believe me. Just giving my two cents....this is a discussion forum right ? Feel free to check out any of the facts I have stated.

After being at the trial everyday and seeing how many things got twisted in the media made be realize what a witch hunt this is

My question as well.

It's still not clear what exactly happened.

To put myself in Seth's shoes:
If I'm lying in bed, awake, at 1:30 am, and a truck is traveling very slowly in front of my house, I would first have to hear it (loud exhaust, or other squeaks and rattles), then determine that this is a slow moving truck and I need to get up and check it out, grab my gun, go outside through my front door, etc........by that time, the truck should be well past my house. I don't see how Seth has time to do all of this. If he's asleep or partially asleep, that that takes even longer and that truck keeps on rolling by without incident.

There is a lot of missing information here.

How is this a witch hunt if he openly admitted that he fired rounds at a truck driving down the road? I know he said he was trying to shoot at the tailgate, but that doesn't excuse the fact that, in his haste to scare or intimidate, he killed someone and injured 2 others.

What got twisted by the media? What makes the trial a witch hunt?

I went back and looked at your post....all 7 of them. So far about the only facts you've stated is that the shots were fired from further than 10ft and that the kids called mom/dad before going to the hospital. All irrelevant information that would have still resulted in a manslaughter conviction(pending the kid still dies).

Regardless of how this is painted by the media he was convicted of manslaughter, and therefore will serve time for such. Are you implying he wasn't guilty of that too?

The fact that he killed an STM student I am sure kicked it off. But the DA was out in the media trying to make the Fontenot kid look like he was moving major weight on the UL-L Campus.

His attorney got up in closing and REQUESTED a manslaughter conviction.

He literally said the words "My client is guilty of manslaughter"

He got what he wanted. that's gonna hurt an appeal

The guy was never going to get convicted of Murder 1, no matter how hard they tried. He was always going to get convicted of some degree of Manslaughter. There was zero premeditation.

the guy was not being threatened with violence of any sort. the three victims were in a vehicle on a public road. the guy fired 3 shots at the moving vehicle. he hit all 3 kids. he killed one. he's stupid and should go to jail.

In my opinion, even if he saw them stealing something from his vehicle. if they made it to their vehicle and were driving away, he missed his opportunity to stop them. Get the license plate number and turn it in. Firing at a vehicle driving away was stupid on his part.

Seth's kind of a moron. I think we can all probably agree on that.

Was his vehicle actually broken in to the night of the shooting? I've read that the kids fingerprints and/or DNA were not found on it, but not whether or not it was burglarized.
