eating healthy is about more than just money. it takes a deliberate effort to regularly prepare healthier meals. fat people are obviously lazy as shite, so this is an impossible concept to 90% of them.

Bingo. The same thing applies to their approach to parenting.

I can eat healthy for cheap or bad for cheap. I choose to eat healthy and spend more money, I just sacrifice other things. I rarely by anything for myself, but I am a cheap bastard outside of food and toilet paper.

But veggies can get expensive if you eat a lot, same with fresh herbs but the solution to that is growing your own, which is a crazy concept to most people. also going to local farms can save a ton and you get to see where your food came from, I know its crazy. Most fat people I find dont like to be outside period, they get in a routine of sitting at work all day then come home, eat, and watch tv. At least down here in south Louisiana.

most veggies are cheap as hell

you can buy cheap fruit, too. apples are expensive, and your berries can get up there, but you can load up on bananas which are cheap as frick

then just buy your protein in bulk and buy whatever is on sale

would almost certainly increase costs

In all seriousness, it's a disease.

Being fat isn't a disease.....it's being too fricking lazy to get up off the couch and eat what you know is right. Delete Dominos from your speed dial. Being stupid isn't a disease either. Being a wannabe victim isn't a disease either. Feeling sorry for yourself isn't a disease either. Cancer is a fricking disease.

you mean sugar

No, I mean fat, and sugar, yes, but salad dressing made of fat, and that's normal, but not swimming in the shite. Whether it's mayo based or oil based, it's the same thing and it's fat, and that might be fine if it weren't drowning in a sea of it most places you go. Especially the cole slaw... That's trained behavior, and most everywhere you go it's the standard because it's the way people are accustomed to eating salads to get it down, drown it in fat. It's a conditioning. A very subtle light coating in a vinaigrette or olive oil salt and pepper, and some healthier more nutritious vegetables and greens isn't what you find most places.

Truth be known though, veg and salads take a back seat to proteins and starch. The meat has to be falling off the sides of the plate, a big mound of starch, and then you can slap some garbage canned shite greens on there if you're lucky. The portion sizes are absurd in most cases though, except when it comes to vegetables, and not good fresh veg for certain. The meat is the only thing most people ever concern themselves over. It's what determines whether someone thinks their food was good or bad, based solely on how the meat and starch was at a place. Greens become the Rodney Dangerfield of meals, no respect.

Surely I am just missing something, or I'm not entirely woken up yet. Are you trying to tell me a bag containing 13 chicken wings is supposed to feed 8 people?

I'd say it's much deeper seeded than just uber sugary soda. It's behavioral I would think in many cases. People use food to cope with life. Feeling down? Here's a candy bar. You need to eat. Here's some food. The more the better. Parents train many of their kids this way and when you see these fat kids with their heavy parents at grocery stores for example, take a glance at what's in the shopping cart, and you'll get it. This kids become adults, and train their kids the same way, with a few who escape the vicious cycle, but then there's society that reinforces the behavior and items at the grocery store, located in the center aisles that cater to the lunacy, and combine that with the little exercise people get, and it's no great wonder we are an overweight society, and some take it even further and become obese.

There was a really good photo posted on here a year or two ago showing the cost of a family of 4 at a fast food joint...then showing the cost of a home prepared grilled chicken dinner and then a beans and rice dinner. The healthy dinners were very cheap
