It amazes me how difficult it can be to find a decent light colored normal pair of jeans that don't hug my junk or have holes in them or something hip and trendy about them.
I will never pay more than $30-40 for jeans, unless they are FRC.
Jeans are to work in, if you ask me, but hey, what do i know. If it was up to me, i'd wear basketball shorts everyday for the rest of my life, except when it's too cold or i'm walking through brush and pickers and need jeans.
All of dis. I find I have to pay more to get somewhat close to the cut I want to wear though.

it'd be much easier if you weren't as tall as you are wide

If you want this then Lee & Wrangler are right up your alley. Nautica can be your "nice" going out jeans.

Kevin James and I have similar builds. I'm not as big as he is in either of the Paul Blarts though.
And seriously, y'all can make fun of the size all you want. Not gonna hurt my feelings at all. I like being a bigger dude, I'm working on being a lesser, bigger dude(down 34 lbs in 2 months), I'll always be thick though. Generally speaking, when I lay my hands on something, it moves. Whether it wants to or not.
Now give me some thoughts on the friggin jeans.

I wear a 29/30 inch inseam because I don't wear my jeans high on my waist. If I did I would be closer to a 32. If I am not mistaken they still design jeans from the crotch to the top of the waist like they did in the 50s when most men whore their pantswaist at or above their belly button.

The Golden Coral Buffett has been warned.

It is why I am asking.
I haven't bought jeans in years. Basketball and khaki shorts are my mainstays. Last time I shopped, I found a design from Polo I liked and bought 8 pairs.
My dad still buys jeans on a regular basis and buys 32 waist even though we wear the same length, he just wears them higher. Which was my rationale for the thought.

Sigh.
You guys really have no idea what different body types look like do you?
Not everyone with those sizes is a blob of goo. Do I have a stomach, oh for sure, is it too big? Yarp, and I am fixing it.
Funny thing is Bengal, when you carry upper body weight and have always been athletic, it doesn't also go to your legs. In fact if you don't live sedentary, it is actually like having a constant leg workout.
Also, the only thing that is annoying me is y'all assuming build and shape based on 2 numbers. As I said, you can't embarrass me about the weight. But I know a lot of other ex athletes who are built like me. Guys who kept the appetite after they stopped working out/playing on a consistent basis, or just didn't move around as much because of joint/back pain and gained belly weight because of it. My problem was the first.
I am what I am, but this is the OT. We would rather attempt to ridicule than help. Thanks guys.

Hold on.
Mayhaps there was a miscommunication.
Y'all are acting like I am 40 inches across.
If you wear a 34/32. Your waist is two inches bigger than your inseam. I wear 40/30 on average, I prefer 29s because I like the way that length falls on my shoes but they are hard to find. My waist size going around is 10 inches longer than my inseam, yes, but this massively fat notion is silly.
I am not 40 inches across, from one side to the other, where I look like an incline will start me rolling like a bowling ball down a mountain.
