I along with my wife and several teenagers will be vacationing in Denver next month. I was hoping to get some suggestions from locals/recent visitors regarding "where" in Metro Denver to secure a hotel. I lived in Denver back in the '90s for several years, but I'm sure much has changed since I last visited in 2003.

I'm not too interested in staying downtown or near DIA, but was thinking more along the lines of Englewood, Tech Center, or even somewhere north (Westminster?). We plan to be there about a week and will do mainly stuff "in town", with the possibility of visiting a resort/park for a day.

Thanks. The wife and I did a timeshare @ Breckenridge during one summer. It was nice and cool there, while it was "hot" in Denver.

I'm glad I didn't post my initial post suggesting a dispensary in Boulder...

Glad you're getting some legit responses..

If I were going solo, I wouldn't mind staying in Boulder. I stayed there for several weeks while completing a relo.

Stayed at a hotel in Tech Center a few weeks ago.. Worked for us and seemed like a pretty nice area. Hopped on the train to get into town.

Thanks. I'm looking at a Hyatt property in that area as a possibility.

Why wouldn't you get a place in the mtns? I live here near the tech center and while I like Denver it's still just another big city, the proximity to the mtns is what makes it great.

If you are gonna stay in the city then the tech center is alright since it has light rail access but so does west Denver near Golden so I'd recommend you stay there.

I think if we would have planned this trip more in advance I might have explored the "mountain" option. That location near Golden sounds intriguing --- esp. if has nearby access to light rail. Thx!

Why would you only want to stay in Boulder if solo? I enjoyed it with my family. Has a neat city vibe with much better mountain/outdoor activity proximity than Denver. I really dug it with the fam.

We will spend a good bit of time in SW Denver w/family and friends, so I imagine that the wife and kids would get tired of that nice trek back and forth on 36. Westminster is probably as far north as I would want to stay in this instance. May take them to Boulder for a brief visit if time permits.
