Ah...the joys of living in the south....

I use to be totally against having a pool, but Jesus...we almost need one to be able to enjoy being outside from May-October.

We are planning on going to a backyard BBQ for the 4th. Quite honestly, I don't want to sit outside in this insufferable heat and eat a bunch of heavy BBQ.

Look man, if this is already your attitude than dont come to my bbq. I only invited you because your wife likes to sneak off and blow me in guest bed. In fact why dont you stay home and just send her.

Because it's hot and it makes women want to take their clothes off and use the pose they've been working on in the mirror for 3 weeks to hide their "bad angles".

Fall trumps Spring for 2 reasons to me:

- Football
- No/way less pollen

Spring is fantastic, but Fall is GOAT season.

Warm boat rides
Cold beers
Chicks in bikinis
Good fishing
Relaxing on the beach
Grilling season

That being said, I'll be over it by the end of July, but it stays really muggy and hot in south La until mid October.

Don't you enjoy a nice, crisp fall morning while smoking a brisket or Boston butt and drinking a variety of different beers? Oh yeah, and while football is on all over the tube?

I agree with the OP. I get depressed in the summertime. I can't fish because it's too hot for the trout. It's too hot to go hiking or running a trail. I hate just sitting by a pool, especially when the temps are really hot. Outdoor music festivals aren't even a viable option.

When I lived in Nashville I enjoyed fall more

But in South La, Spring is better. Fall here is just a slightly less hot summer

loved it when I was a kid. Was tired of waking up to sit in a classroom, etc. Last day of school was awesome.

You get a few months of relaxation.

Now, you don't and it's just hotter. I'd rather be cold than overheating.

Winter in Louisiana isn't bad, our winter is like everyone else's autumn. Its cool for about 3 months out of the year these days.

Because growing up, summer meant "NO SCHOOL!!!!"

Its not until you're an adult that you realize summer means "Another day at the office, but im covered in sweat from walking from my car to the building"

So it takes a little time, but eventually people realize summer sucks

When kids are a little older i think i'll enjoy it because they'll have their summer activities that they look forward to, but right now they're just in daycare like they are the rest of the year

Sure, spring and fall are great too. The only thing is you typically get that awkward temp change right at dusk.. You know, it will be 75-80 during the day and when the sun goes down, all of a sudden it's 55-60 and chilly. I hate that.

I love the pool, river, and the beach. I'm all for those places on big weekends.

But other than that, being outside just hanging out is pretty miserable in the heat

I despise the cold weather so once it warms up enough to lose the shirt on a morning boat ride, I'm in my happy place. A walk into work when it's 100° out is absolutely miserable.

I guess I just don't let the heat beat me up too badly. I get at at 6 or 7 and hit the golf course at 9 and it's 85 and play until lunch where it's upper 90's.. It doesn't kill me.

Yeah, I pretty much loathe summer simply because of the heat and humidity and greatly prefer fall and spring, but those 30-40 degree temperature swings are ridiculous.

I can't stand walking out of the house in the morning and it be 45 degrees and its 80 by lunchtime.

This as well. I love going to the lake, going floating or swimming with my wife and son, but aside from that, being on the back patio or in the yard is miserable when it's 90+ with a 100+ heat index and my AC is running nonstop.

That first, crisp fall morning in one of life's simple pleasures. Roll the windows and put some Railroad Earth on and drive to work (or if on a Saturday - to go get some coffee or breakfast).

Just a couple more months....

I Grew up in Louisiana and I currently live in Germany. Summers are far more enjoyable here because it was in the low 60's this morning and mid 70's throughout today. When it is cold as hell throughout the winter you enjoy it more. I prefer winter in Louisiana cause it is not ridiculously cold and snowing all the time. I guess people have different preferences.

I completely agree. Pair that with a good breakfast, College Gameday, and an early adult beverage and it's right where I need to be.
