Experiences with LASIK?

Thinking about getting it done eventually. What were your experiences with getting LASIK? Worth it? Did they blind you on accident? How are you reading this if so?
Trying to make an informed decision. I could not say I did my due diligence without an OT thread of course.

I'm a proponent. Do not pick a surgeon based on price. Find out what procedures he's done, how many he's done and his complication rate.
Get the newest/best laser package - a preferably a guy who is co-located with the laser.
I'm almost 10 years post-surgery, still read the 20/25 line on the eye chart. I need cheaters to read fine print, but not even all the time. I occasionally get a little dry eye in the morning or after staring at a computer all day.
I was in ~ 6.75 and 8.5 diopter lenses, was 20/400 distance in both eyes, and had astigmatism.
Still have a touch of astigmatism, but nothing to cause me to wear lenses. I'm in cheaters maybe 10 hours a month. I might have been anyway, because that's related to age, versus the myopia I dealt with before.
I sat up and moved next door - read the 20/15 line with the bandage contacts in, while the laser was still cooling off. Never looked back.

Best decision I ever made. My experience was incredible, it was barely uncomfortable in my opinion. I was expecting the procedure to be much worse. Get it done as soon as you can

Wow that sounds awesome. I think your eyes may have also been a little worse than mine originally too.
Definitely not going to go with the "cheap guy". Can't mess around when it comes to your vision.

I had the itchy/burning/gritty feeling for about a day and a half. I drove at night within about a week of the procedure, although I should have waited another couple of days. I saw "comet trails" (as I described them) around stoplights and other high contrast situation for a few months, but nothing bad enough to affect acuity or anything else.

Imagine how great breasts would feel if you were blind.

I've had glasses/contacts since I was 5, im now 29. I can't wait to wake up in the morning and not have to put anything in my eyes

I had it done two years ago. As others have said, occasional dry eye. Nothing Optive Refresh Drops can't fix. Would do it again.

Best decision I ever made in my life. My vision was -6.50 and -6.00 so I could pretty much only see a blur. I went to Singer in Metairie and he was awesome. He's a no bullshite guy. I actually had PRK not LASIK so your experience may be different, but I would do it again in a heartbeat.

When you lose one sense the others are all magnified.
