Audio books have always intrigued me in a way, however they are almost prohibitively expensive when I can just get a Kindle book for usually less than $9.

Does anyone have any positive or negative experiences with this service?

Nothing in particular. However I primarily read sci-fi and historical fiction.

I use it. Although at $14.95 a month I will probably cancel soon.

Get for free from your library.
Overdrive app.

Up to 10 at a time. Keep for 21 days, they return themselves.

I LOVE this app. All you need is a library card number.

Do you live in East Baton Rouge parish? If so the library has an extensive collection of audio books, including best sellers. You can check them out on-line.

I started using it a little over a year ago and haven't looked back. I listen to books instead of the trash on the radio on the way to and from work now and have gone through a lot of books that I would not have otherwise read. I have a gold subscription and it is plenty for me.

Many of the audio books are offered at steep discounts if you already own the kindle version. Like $5-8 each.

My son enjoys using this app to help with his AR reading.

It is expensive at $14.99 per month though.

I have never heard of this. Hopefully my library card from El Paso works on the app.

Just an update I downloaded the overdrive app. A few comments.

1. The app is terrible. It's laggy as hell and obviously isn't optimized for smartphones.

2. My El Paso library card does indeed work however the titles are extremely limited. This is obviously just because the El paso library system doesn't value reading or knowledge apparently.

3. Audiobooks are few and far between. NONE of the classics are on there. However, if you want Grisham, Baldacci, Connelly, Patterson, etc there is a pretty wide variety.

4. I only found one audiobook I was interested in listening to: In the Garden of Beasts by Erik Larson.

I have had it for about 8 months and have down loaded a book a month, great concept for about $15/month. they will even allow you to return for credit books that you didn't enjoy. my problem is that I usually only listen to them while I'm flying sometimes driving. so I have a several books that I have in my library that I haven't listened to - I called earlier this week to suspend my membership for a few months till I get caught up.

What I do is search on my laptop and then log into the app, type in the name, and download.

Ebr parish has a ton of good books. It's been a progressive thing though. A few years ago they only had 2000. Now I think it's closer to 10000.

I use it. It works alright if you will listen to it a lot. I go through a couple a month.

One key is to take advantage of big sales they have for members. I usually end up buying an extra book a month for less than 5 bucks.

When you use prime but go with no rush shipping amazon gives you a 1$ credit per order for ebooks and movies. I was wondering if you could use these credits towards audible bc they are books also.

I have tried to use the overdrive app to check out books on my kindle and ended up not using it. The overdrive app is very counterintuitive and a general piece of shite app.
