This is the ring I’m looking at. GF cares about “sparkle”, clarity least. Color and carat is a wash. Is this a good diamond?

LINK

I have no idea about diamonds and need a little help.

If by good you mean overpriced and manufactured, then yes, I'm sure it's a good diamond.

Color and clarity sucks, that will affect sparkle. Won't have as much "fire" as a better quality stone.

You need a diamond guy. Ask one of your jewish friends if they have a cuz in the business that can get wholesale

Is this the thread where all the OT ballers are suddenly too cheap to spend more than a grand on a ring? Prepare for a bunch of posts recommending fake stones instead.

If it has shitty clarity, it won’t sparkle. It’ll look dull. SI2 isn’t great, but you get a bigger stone for the price.

That said, that diamond has a visible flaw right in the middle. If she’s cool with that, go for it.

I have my great grandmother's ring. Had to spend 1k on restoration, but at least my wife won't run into anyone with the same ring.

Hopefully whomever I marry cares about having an actual precious stone, not something De Beers monopolized and marketed.

Good luck with that

Even otherwise pretty rational chicks are gonna be weird about getting that diamond theyve been thinking about since they were 10

Not the best out there

Clarity, go with SI1 and pay attention to the GIA report. It will tell you what is wrong. You can find some minor inconsequential imperfections that force it to be SI1 but are easily ignored and look "eye clean"

Look at the table%, it is how big the "top down" appearance of the diamond is. It can artificially make the ring look bigger than the weight suggests. Just know that it affects how light reflects and "fire" so going overboard can make your diamond look like dull trash

Color go for I, it is typically good enough to pass as a better diamond to average people while still netting you significant savings

Proportions are pretty good, but the SI2 and J are going to affect scintillation. I would try to get a H, VS1 perhaps in a smaller stone.

Color and clarity not good. I'd try for G or better color (H at the lowest) and something with a V for clarity.

That said, I used BlueNile and was very happy with them. Appraised and insured for more than I paid right away, which came in handy when my wife lost hers and State Farm cut a check for the appraised value.

If you want something big, you can stick to a lower color as long as the clarity is good (VS or VVS). It’ll be a warmer stone, but still sparkle. A whiter stone that is more included will look very dull.

If you are good you can get a "high H" and SI1 that is eye clean and has "fire"

The grading process is subjective + some inclusions force it down a notch when in reality it is unnoticeable to anyone without a microscope

True, just hard to be certain when buying online.
