jesus baw how'd you spend 5 grand in the ER?

Considering the cost of an ambulance to come a pick you up is $1000-$1200, spending $5k is vary easy. My Fiance is a nurse and some of the most common procedures cost a couple thousand each. Well, the hospital charges that anyway.

However, the physician that saw you in the ER will need to be paid. Depending on your deductible and if the physician service provider is in-network, you will owe them as well. My local hospital has a provider that is not in network, so for my last trip to the ER, I owed them $750.

My Sister-in-law got screwed over by this a few months ago. She cut her hand pretty bad and instead of going to the hospital they always go to where they know they will be covered fully they just went to the closest ER, they got there and asked if their insurance was accepted and the receptionist said yes. Well a week later they get a bill for $3700 that wasn't covered because the doctor who stitched her up wasn;t in their network. Such BS!

Originally at OLOL Walker then transported to OLOL BR. (They told us that the ambulance fee should be waived as there is an agreement in place btw OLOL and Acadian Ambulance) Of course Acadian did submit a 1700 bill to insurance which the hospital did say typically ends up happening.

BTW OLOL BR emergency room is a freakin zoo. Only reason I agreed for her to be transferred there was due to agreement with Acadian Ambulance. Second trip was to Ochsner Bluebonnet was way better.

I hear that OLOL walker has some doctors that some insurances don't take. We specifically asked when I had to take my little girl for a dr on our insurance.

I already checked that the ER MD that she saw was on our plan. Now at OLOL in BR that's a different case. She never saw a MD at all until she was released from the hospital and that was for 2 minutes so never caught her name. But she did say she was there on behalf of her PCP. Not sure if any MDs were looking at her outside of that though.

I dislocated my shoulder 2 years ago, so I went to the ER for the first time in my life. It took the doc about 5 mins to get it back into place. The hospital billed me $4000 and the bill for the physician was $900.

I don't know what crappy insurance you have or had, but my insurance covers maternity 100% and not subject to a deductible. We paid nothing for the birth of my first 2 kids, and just over $100 for the third due to emergency c-section stuff.

Wasn't me personally (I'm single with no kids)...someone else I know. Still getting new bills in the mail 4 months after the baby was born.

Went to the ER a couple years ago for chest pain and my bill was right around 5k. All they did was an ECG, chest xray, couple blood tests and gave me some IV toradol.

My copay is $250 for ER visits
