I certainly do not.

I mean…what could go wrong?

I should say that my belief is “supported” by a ton of hope and optimism. Just take this initial use case…if it works, you’re giving unaided function back to people who can’t use their limbs, cant swallow, can’t hug a loved one. That’s a big deal.

But, yes, if it works. The downside is huge because there’s so much about the brain neuroscience hasn’t figured out.

Worrying about that doesn’t do a lot of good IMO because it was always a matter of when, not if, this was going to ever be attempted. So I’ll be watching from the sidelines and hoping for the best.

Elon Musk’s startup Neuralink implants chip into brain of first human test subject

I would have sworn Elon Musk was the test subject himself. He has several issues in his spine from injuries when he was younger.

It was literally developed entirely under Trump during Operation Warp Speed and he, today, calls himself the Father of the Vaccine.

And while being developed, many Democrats said they would never take it... right up to the point when Biden was declared the winner. After that point, it became almost a holy relic to many of them.

I don't disagree with what you said. I voted for Trump in both elections but was against the jab the whole time as it was rushed (my posts at the time prove that). The point is that the moment Biden took office, Democrats did their best to take as much credit as possible for Warp Speed.

quote:

Despite calls for national unity and bipartisanship, President Joe Biden and his top aides have declined to give the Trump administration credit on the nation's COVID-19 vaccine rollout while relying heavily on a system established by their predecessors.

They willingly took on that cloak of responsibility, they can't take it off now.

And look, I do believe this is likely to be a net positive for humanity. I’m just saying I’m not going to be the first or the millionth to do it.

Yeah. I think in 15 to 20 years we'll look back at being a surgical procedure and consider that barbaric and dumb. But you have to crawl before you walk, and the rest of technology is not ready to handle an interface the brain

Imagine if Neuralink could allow people with early to mid-stage Alzheimer's disease to create neural pathways that compensate for the clogged brain pathways that close over time? If Neuralink has AI properties and it learns to recognize people and tasks to give Alzheimer's patients' brains a little boost, I'm for it.

Imagine? shite - I'm practically already counting on it. I know what my future holds. If this keeps my parents or even myself out of a really, really scary future, I don't care how many chimps have to die for it.

The Gruesome Story of How Neuralink’s Monkeys Actually Died

I mean are we really going to just stop any kind of medical advancement testing to save the life of a few monkeys?

These implants are for people who already have SERIOUS problems - total paralysis, nervous system diseases, complete shut-ins (ie, unable to communicate in any form), etc. These patients have an abysmal quality of "life" as it is, the most incremental improvement in their circumstances is HUGE
And let’s hope it stops here. The fear many people have is that it starts here but then becomes cheap and available enough to be integrated into normal people’s lives for other life enhancing purposes which eventually leads to internet connectivity which eventually leads to AI integration and certain annihilation for all of us

RIP us!

I wonder how long it'll take for OnlyFans hoes to offer Neuralink to Neuralink frick sessions? We might be able to use this to get the incels in a better place.

There was a meme that I'd kill to find again.

It was an NPC demanding that Chad Patriot gets his vaccine and booster shots and Chad Patriot was like "no heckn way, mate. My body is a temple".

Then in the next box Elon was saying "I'm going to literally implant this chip into your brain and tap into your neural pathways" and Chad Patriot was like "omg Elon, thats so badass. I'm in".

ETA.... aaaaand it was posted 3 spots above me. Nice. The NPC in box one needs to be changed to Chad Patriot tho for moar funniez

Didn't we kill a frickton of monkeys during space research?

Aren't monkeys and chimps killed all the time by big pharma?

But now it's some huge issue?

According to the article the issue is that Musk lied about the cause of death not directly being related to testing.

who cares about the monkeys. I agree. But don't sleep on the fact that Elon misled investors with his comments. That's the real issue. If you were one of the OT Ballers who invested because of that bad information, you would be righteously pissed.

As far as the chip goes, it will do great things for humanity. And eventually, just like everything else, humanity will use it to steal, kill, and of course, new ways to masturbate.

Musk has a bad habit of misleading investors with his comments
