At first I thought you were just dumb. Now I see that you're dumb and probably 12 years old.

Youre wrong because nobody gives a shite. I just want to see us expand our horizons in space. I don't need some kind of martyr or hero for that like you do for some reason. I couldn't give a shite who goes up there to be honest.

Not surprising. You consistently prove yourself to be one of the least intelligent people on this site

I'm sorry, but Elon may not be of the sound mind to take a trip to Mars and back. He may not have the talents either to pilot a spacecraft and relies on others expertise to pull it off.

Plus he has considerable talents that can be used here on Earth. And it will be absolute hell on his body. Very few people are mentally qualified to go to Mars.
Pretty much this.

It's not that hard to understand, but keep doubling down on stupid.

He wins if it is successful either way. Except he wins this way without risking his life.

This is such a stupid thread.

Do you have any idea of how much we are paying this guy as taxpayers? He risks nothing. And he not only takes our money,

Risking his life to prove his balls to idiots like you sounds like a great risk for that investment

Why don't you actually expand on this and why it actually differs from your logic instead of just making a blanket statement with nothing to back it up?

Wow, are you really this stupid? What is your problem? Is it he's young and rich?

The most awesome move that he could make is to risk himself. If he wins, he wins all of it.

The identity of the first human to go to the LEO, moon, mars, etc. doesn't necessarily matter. What do you think would be different if he went to the moon rather than another person? --edited to clarify-- define what you mean by "he wins absolutely everything if he does it"

He has said many, many times that the odds of success in this (space) endeavor are extremely low. At the start he only gave SpaceX a 10% shot of surviving. Even now, he sees the Mars goal as being close to "possible" but still far from "likely".

From what I can tell, your primary concern is that he's risking other lives to build toward achieving his own personal goal. He has talked extensively about this risk reward trade off. In this situation specifically, he's got a private party coming forward to fund their own personal mission of their own accord.

Werner von Braun never launched himself into space. Just imagine if he blew himself up on his own rocket before his vision came to fruition.

Because he has bigger visions than just a field trip to the moon. Not gonna risk it unless he knows space x is in good hands

I dunno... the more I read about him the more I think he's kind of a self involved dick. But I guess that might be the case for most who attempt to be visionary.

James Cameron submerged to 35,000 ft underwater. He put his arse on the line, why can't this guy?

OP, you do realize that the two private individuals not only approached Musk with the idea, they're fully funding the mission themselves? You're acting as if Elon went out looking for this.

LINK

quote:

The two private citizens approached the company about the idea and have already paid a sizable deposit, CEO Elon Musk told reporters in a conference call. These private individuals will also bear the cost of the mission.

Maybe you should get the facts before you go off on an uneducated rant.

I see your point. He should be on the rocket himself, (if he truly believes in his product), just like Von Braun did with the first Saturn rockets. Amiright?

Oh...wait...nevermind.

Musk should be more like FDR, who stormed the beaches of Normandy.
