Just got a text from my grandma not to drink any tap water.

If you are living in New Orleans, you may be – or may have been – exposed to elevated lead levels in your drinking water without even realizing it, a risk that could spike as the city of New Orleans embarks on a $2.4 billion infrastructure overhaul.

All of the attorneys in New Orleans are partying tonight.

New Orleans is like Mexico.
Don't drink the water, drink the tequila

Did they dump lead statues in the river?

That's actually one thing that's not even debatable.

Looks like the statues are getting their revenge after all.

Of course there is. Throughout the Nola region, particularly in older areas, there's active lead waterlines. There's probably lead solder on house connections.
Hell, Nola has old drainage lines that are hollowed out Cypress logs.

That's a very well written text from your grandma.

Your primary care physician can run BLL (blood lead level) test to see if you've got anything to worry about.

A lot of the pipes in the city are old lead pipes. A lot of the service lines in older homes have lead in them. But the lead has been leaching out in the water for 100 years.
While I have no doubt that levels are "elevated" they aren't enough to hurt you. It's not like we have a lead contaminated water source. We got the MS river. Just some fertilizer to give us a good taste =)
