I have an uncle who spent time in Kenya helping bring medicines and goods to the Maasai people, he said they're not afraid of lions or any other carnivores there..but they have a legit fear of elephants.

Years ago, during a tornado, several elephants escaped from a zoo in Natchitoches and populated the area.

Louisiana would be a strange place to have wild elephants roaming. I don't know how much it would change things, but I'm sure it would.
