Electric WaterHeater Question.........Help!

About 3 days ago we noticed the water was extremely hot at settings where the water is usually a nice temp. Now, I'm getting no heated water. Is this a thermostat issue? Can open it up and adjust the temperature and possibly fix the problem?
Any advice is appreciated. Thanks

elements went out
watch a youtube vid on how to test your heater elements. you will need a ohms tester.

most electric water heaters have no settings. There usually isn't anything to adjust.
No heat, you have bad elements.

All electric water heaters have thermostats and elements. Test the elements for continuity they are probably bad. If you have to change out the elements you might as well change the thermostats its very simple. Also the diptube could be bad as well.

You f**ked. Be prepared to drop some $$$ on a new one or a new heating element.

Get new elements.
Also, thanks for not calling it a hot water heater.

Most have a reset button that can get tripped. I would look there first before you started gutting it, assuming the model you have is equipped with one.

agree with everything said here...
check the main breaker...
If it is ok, turn if off, take off the two panels on the water heater and look for the red reset button...be damn sure you have no power to the unit before you take any cover off, as 240 volts behind that cover will knock you on your arse...
if niether the breaker nor the reset button is tripped, call someone to change element(s)...

Open the cover. There's probably a reset button. Try it first.
ETA: obviously you got that advice already

Thanks Y'all.
Opened er up, and the reset button had been tripped. We had a couple power outages the past couple days that may have done it I guess. Also turned the temp down on both thermostats just in case the elements are going out.
