Semi auto is one bullet each time you pull the trigger. Full auto sprays bullets until you run out with one pull of the trigger. Its possible to obtain a license for fully auto guns but you have to go through an extremely intensive background check and the guns are way more expensive.

Semi-auto is pull the trigger...automatic is hold the trigger down.

That should be enough info for your ignorance.

They were all semi automatic.

Semi auto means a round fires each time you pull the trigger. Automatic means you pull the trigger and it keeps firing until you release.

It is a lot of trouble to get a federal "machine gun" permit to buy automatic weapons.

Semi Auto. Although we don't know for sure on the night club shooting but it more than likely won't be full auto. Semi Auto fires as fast as you can pull the trigger and automatic fires bullets by holding the trigger down. Semi auto you walk into the gun store and 15 minutes later you wak out with your scary assault rifle. Full auto you have a lot more paperwork to do and they are much more expensive to buy for the most part.

No they were semi- automatic rifles. An automatic rifle is a machine gun or an "assault rifle." A semi-automatic rifle is not an "assault rifle", AR-15 actually stands for ArmaLite, the makers of the original AR-15.

A machine gun, or automatic rifle is extremely difficult to buy, you have to have extensive paperwork, background checks, and mega money to have one. Also to add, there have only been 2 recorded crimes since NFA was created of an NFA registered weapon (automatic rifle, short barreled rifle, etc).

Guns are not the issue. All of these massacres have occurred in gun free zone's, where it is illegal to even carry a gun.

Forget about what you hear from the media or tv, not just anyone can get an automatic gun. They DON'T just sell those things like gum at gun shows. I know that's not popular to say.

Most pistols that are not revolvers are semi-automatic.

As stated above, semi-auto means one pull of the trigger equals one round fired, and there is no cocking necessary between rounds being fired.

Magazine capacity determines how often you have to reload. Extra large capacity magazines are also highly restricted by law, as are silencers.

I don't know anyone that owns any fully automatic guns. I do hear the police training with them at the Ouachita Parish Sheriff's Office Shooting Range. Can't see them because they have a separate range than us guys with the semi automatic guns.

Automatic weapons will cost you $8500 on up. You might find some cheaper but an AR/AK will be in this range or higher.

A guy at the range in Sherburne brought some. Looks just like in the movies with fire coming out of the barrel. Shell casings flying everywhere. It was cool to see that. The permit/license is $200 per weapon, and you must carry that license with the firearm.

If you are legal to own and buy a firearm, you can get a license for automatic weapons. I dont see the point in spending $9000 on a single gun just to burn through hundreds of rds in seconds. But then again I dont have unlimited amounts of money either otherwise I would own, M60E, SAW, M416, etc just to play with.

And they're not military style! It's near impossible to get a gun that is fully automatic like what the military and some law enforcement has. They only say it's "military style" because it's black and scary to them. Almost all gun crime in this country is carried out with handguns anyway.

Rifles aren't even meant to be used in confined spaces like most of these recent mass shooters have used them. Handguns are much more effective at neutralizing targets indoors in confined spaces.

Don't fall victim to the anti-gun propaganda.
