I currently have Eatel under a two year contract that will expire next month. I have been happy with them for the most part but not having HBOGo is a big draw back, not to mention the two year savings I have been getting will drop off this month. Should I call and get a quote with Cox? What do y'all recommend?

TIA

Call customer retention and tell them you're thinking about switching, see what kind of deal they will give you first.

I've never done business with Cox but every single time I hear Cox mentioned it is because somebody is complaining about them.

Eatel is great.

I've never had Eatel so I can't give my personal opinion but I can say that I've never ever heard someone say they prefer Cox over Eatel and I have the heard the exact opposite at least a dozen times.

That's all I've got

I agree, I never have problems with eatel. I just use the in laws login info to use HBOgo on the ipad.

Cox likes to frick their customers which is why they get such a bad wrap. For instance I decided to switch to UVerse because I could get the same level of service for $65 cheaper. I call Cox to cancel and they give me the same level of service for that price to stay. Then they turn around and frick me with a $60 install charge that was never mentioned on the phone. In order to not get fricked by them you have to call them annually and threaten to leave.

In summary frick Cox because they'll try to frick you. If you can deal with managing them then they're ok.

I've had both, and personally prefer eatel over cox. Customer service is a big thing for me and cox left something to be desired.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought that if you subscribed to hbo the hbogo service was available to you no matter the provider?

From my understanding, you pay for HBO through your provider and your provider gives you the login to HBOgo. If your provider doesn't have HBOgo then no login for you.

Oh.

Doesn't matter to me. I can get my fix of hbo shows through other outlets.

But it's always helpful to research your options before choosing.

Having Eatel installed tomorrow. Dropped Cox. Every month for the past six they have had a surcharge on my bill. Got the same exact channel lineup and faster internet with Eatel in paying $110 less and it does not go up like Cox did in three months.

Right now I'm paying Eatel $186 for good internet, lightwave tv two boxes, and home phone (cell service bad in my area). I know next month that price will go up, just trying to figure out my options.

I like Eatel but I have the same complaints as far as no streaming. With Eatel you can't steam espn3, hbogo, or anything else that requires a cable login.

Actually, EATEL has online streaming for more than 30 cable networks. LINK

And I know firsthand that other channels like Watch ESPN and HBO Go are in the works.
