Ping is fine
Fine?! A 2ms ping is almost "fine" if you are pinging a device inside your own house. A 2ms ping to anything past your own modem is next to impossible unless you are pinging the very next machine the packet reaches. A 2ms ping is absolutely impossible if you are touching a machine farther away than about 150 miles.

what other ISP options are available?
Cox Communications. Not really an option because of terrible internet service (fluctuation of upload and download speeds, along with outages) and call center customer service.
And maybe AT&T U-Verse? Not sure.

is cox better than eatel in ascension?
No way, not even close.

Please tell me the difference between the 10/25 I pay $66 for from Cox and the one I don't have from Eatel. Serious question here, no trolling.

For me, I like the local, personal service. I can easily reach a customer service representative back at Eatel if I ever need to. Can't do that with Cox.
Also, Cox is known for its outages. Eatel has gone out twice in 5 years since I have had them.
And speed. You're paying for a product that can't always deliver what it advertises. Eatel does. Eatel is 100 % fiber. Cox is not.

But it's the one in quotes...is this factual? I pay for 10/25 but my PS4 will test 3/12, which isn't horrible, but it isn't what I'm paying for either.

Eatel is fiber to the home where you have a dedicated line for your service. Cox is a fiber to the curb network where you fight for bandwidth with a group of people. Eatel will have you close the bandwidth they are providing where as Cox's service will fluctuate based on usage by you and whoever is in your "pooled" service. That's it in simple terms. Oh and Cox is 25 down and 5 up the last I checked.

With Eatel, you will get the speeds you are paying for.

Don't believe you can get them in Eatel's area.

I wouldn't consider them for my home.
The DirecTV and Eatel combo works very well. May end up switching altogether to Eatel.

Similar to mpg numbers on gas/electric hybrids that ignore the cost of the batteries or outside energy required to charge those batteries.
I'd run pingtest.net to verify.

Looks like I have another call to make.

Ping: 13 ms
Jitter: 1 ms
Server: Dallas, TX
Ping: 36 ms
Jitter: 2 ms
Server: Tampa, FL

He is hitting a server that is less than 20 miles away, so the 2 ms ping is possible.

If you live in Ascension, your choice should be an easy one.

Work? Or home?
If home, what are you paying per month?
